New to Online Marketing need some guidance to begin.:)

Hello all i am new here kind of new in the whole online advertisment/marketing.
Recently a friend of mine asked me for help to improve his website,
He has a website offering some service related with education and all he need is some good advertisment and maybe some marketing methods (like payperclick or paypermille) to start making some money to invest in advestisment.
So the advertisment is going to have two sectors offline and online..
I have some ideas for offline advertisment but i want some help for the online advertisment..
I am thinking of putting some advertisment on social medias and i already send emails advertising the website..But this is not all and i want your ideas..

    Do you have an advertising budget for online marketing? Have you tried to focus on your prospect communities, and do you know how to approach them? Do you have a Unique Business proposal?

      Yea i have a budget but very small at this time..
      Nearly 200-300 euro/month
      I don't know what prospect communities are also i don't know anything about Unique BUsiness proposal but i whould like to learn..
      I am totally new to marketing or advertisment but i have 1-2 months to prepare and start..

    The most effective way is to invent a method.

    You should investigate where your target audience your target hang out online.

    Then setup a plan and every day follow the plan working to get in touch with your audience.

    Answer questions on forums, answer to comments, Groups, etc...

    If you do it steadily for 3 / 4 months the traffic will grows a lot.

    @gamestoenjoy What methods did you use to promote your website?
    @borsaronero As it is a freelance website for education i am planing on targeting universities and advertise the website to people that are going to graduate also in schools..I will search for forums or other websites..

    What about SEO?
    Whould it help?
    Also i am planing on giving some advertisments to facebook and some other social medias and advertise the site on google adsense network..
    Whoud this help to improve the visitors of the website?
    Finally do you have any other specific methods of advertising a website or these are secrets of the job?

      I optimized my site for SEO, used social networks like Facebook and Twitter, wrote and published articles, and post in relevant forums and blogs.
