What have you been doing to build the business of your dreams in a systematic way?

Talk about business systems, procedures, and workflows are all the rage these days, but this solopreneur is wondering what actually works to liberate a business owner to be able to get the right things done.

    Wow, that's a big open-ended question.

First, what kind of solopreneur are you? Photographer, graphics designer, etc?

Second, are you good enough for people to pay you? If not, get better.

Third, what are the exact things you need to do to get paid? Define the steps to complete a job/project.

Fourth, focus on the steps that make you the most money, and try to eliminate, delegate, or outsource the rest.

    Fifth, scale it up.

And finally, be great at marketing. It's not who has the best product/service, but who markets the product/service the best.

    Good luck.

I truly believe that the key to actually getting the right things done is to write down exactly what you need to do.

If you don't have a list you get distracted, you read forums(!), look for new ideas and are unable to take action.

Take action.. get your list down and work through it. Don't get distracted.

Also one of my favourite of Steven Coveys "7 habits of highly effective people" is "Begin with the end in mind" If you don't know what you are shooting for you will probably miss - you have to know what the end game is for everything you are starting out on.

Come up with a solid plan and stick to it. Set goals for yourself and achieve them. Even if it's as simple as a daily to do list, try to get all of that done each day.

Stick with it and don't give up.

Everyday i work on my business. Not for long tho cause i do alot of paid advertising that makes 90% of the money for me. But i do utilize my 10% of free marketing online wisely. Basically i follow a set of routines to carry out everyday. It's not an exhaustive list, just 4 things that advances me day by day. By the time i'm 40... i might be making millions. But work on your business everyday and find a way to automate (almost) all aspects of it.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
