Are YOU a New Warrior?

This is directed to all new warriors (less than 30 posts) to help them...

Lately I have seen a lot of new warriors contributing to threads with less than 10 words just to get past the post count thresholds to access certain areas or features of this great forum.

My advice... DON'T DO IT..!

Every member of the Warrior Forum is a moderator so if you simply post just to increase your count you could be considered a "troll" and banned.

This is the largest and most successful Internet Marketing forum on the entire internet and as you can imagine it attracts some pretty questionable characters from time to time. (Just ask Allen )

My advice to you is make intelligent posts or comments with a bit of thought behind them instead of all the 10 words or less "Great Job" type of posts just to increase your count.

I know it can be frustrating because you want access to some other areas in this forum but if everyone did this the forum would be a garbage dump.

So with that being said, welcome home... you finally found the place you were looking for! Read the valuable contributions and learn from them, then go and take action!

Do you not have his email from paypal or other processor?

Shouldn't need to PM. In fact most of us who run WSO's despise PM's because you have to wait minutes between each reply. Some mornings I have several PM replies open just waiting for the counter to reset.

      Hope that helps

Mike, thanks for making this post. I for one have lurked the warriorforums for a few years reading and not necessarily acting upon the Money Making side of the internet but for ways to expand my friends experience on my website...its cool to here.. wow.. we can do that here too... lately I have gotten interested in the money making side and decide to sign up. Admittedly I am one of the guys who do one liners but not because its just to get a post count but to get more understanding of where the person is with there issues.

I am still learning alot from WF and try to post only when my analytical mind needs more information to be of service.. Good Luck to all members!

I found out about this the hard way! I tried to post a bunch quick so I could get access also. I wasn't trying to buildup my posts so I can sell things. I simply wanted to be able to participate in some threads where I didn't have access yet. Anyways, all my posts were wiped out and I had to start from square one. Very frustrating!

I am guilty of such acts too - initially! As it is rather annoying that I am unable to post on WSOs and PM sellers of the WSOs!

Thank you for the tip...it is annoying though to have to have 30 post to get access to other things on the forum such as PM'ing...I recently purchased a WSO and within the thread another poster posted a great answer to a question and I was wishing to PM him to get his insight more and it wouldn't allow me...but rules are there for a reason and I guess its from past abuse from some posters, too bad the masses have to pay for a few bad apples.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[946498].message }}
  • I agree. I have also done the same just to be able to PM people. It is especially difficult when you purchase something and then realize you are not able to contact the seller.

Sometimes you need to do minor spamming, especially when you need to contact someone and can't because you are constantly observing and reading to learn more.

Thanks for the tip! I hadn't planned on throwing out a bunch of bulk posts, but I'm more worried about being too annoying with any "noob" questions......I see a lot of people complaining about that. I'm sure a lot of beginner questions are answered by searching the forums so I'll try to do that before I ask anything.

They do, but no one can accuse them of posting one line replies so that they gain access to PM's. I read this forum because it is interesting and like a lot of people gain value and insight from it. Whilst there are room for one line replies in general they are not helpful. However a helpful sentence from a senior warrior can have more insight than a paragraph of waffle!!!!!!!!!!

This is true and it can be confusing to people who haven't been here long - but if you click on the Warrior's name and choose "see more posts by _____" most often you will see that not ALL of their posts are one-liners. That's a lot different than someone who just joined quickly throwing up a bunch of "great post thanks" so they can . . . what? Run a WSO, PM other Warriors - the problem is that their intentions are unknown, so most of us will assume the worst and report them.

I do make an effort to see if someone is being sneaky, first I'll go look at their other posts and the date they joined the forum, etc. If I see a bunch of what I would consider to be "junk" posts that seem to be for the purpose of quickly building up their count, I'll report them. If I see that the person is just new and inexperienced and is simply asking a lot of one-line questions, then I might give them a little more slack - but it's a judgment call every time because you just don't know for sure.

I think the majority of people here are honest and want to be welcoming to new people, but you do learn to spot behavior trends over time.

For anyone new who is quickly trying to build up your post count for honest reasons, understand that we may not always realize what your intentions are, that's all. It's not that we're trying to be heavy handed for no reason - there are just a lot of devious people joining every day and they do make it harder on everyone!

      P.S. Good post, Mike!

    Mike,

I totally agree. There are people in other forums that I see go there and post something like " I agree with you" and do this over and over again just to get their website seen in their signature files.

Not only newbies do this but people who have been here a while.

Let me add some thoughts to this subject in addition to what Mike already
      said.

A lot of new members think that they have nothing to contribute. This
      is not true.

Here are some tips for contributing to the forum in order to get your 30
      posts and do it legitimately.

      1. Ask questions. Certainly, as a new member, and maybe even new to
IM, you must have some questions about certain topics like product creation, advertising, and so on. Ask an intelligent question. You don't need to know
the answer to it. Let the more knowledgeable members do that.

      2. Ask for clarification on some of the answers you get. Certainly you're
not going to fully understand every answer you get. This is a chance to
have that answer further explained so that you and other members can
      get more out of it.

      3. Read other threads of questions that other members are asking that
you might also be interested in. There are bound to be answers there
that you don't fully understand that you can ask for clarification on.

      4. Start a thread telling a little something about yourself and what
you've done so far in your marketing efforts. After filling in the details of
what you've done, ask if there is something you could have done differently
      or better.

      5. As you begin to learn things and try them out for yourself, come back
to the forum and report your findings. Other members can certainly learn
      from your experience...good or bad.

30 posts comes out to 2 posts a day for 15 days or about 2 weeks.

Certainly you can think of 2 intelligent posts a day, though some might
say I've yet to have one intelligent post in over 2 1/2 years.

Point is, it's really not that hard to get to your 30 post count and do it in
a way that actually adds value to the forum.

Now this is ironic... a good place to start if you're new here is to read the Forum Rules. You will come across a rule were it says NO affiliate links are allowed in the sig files.

Hahahaha, that is funny. I have lurked around WF for a while now but until about a week ago I decided to register and make an account. There is a lot of great information on this website and am so glad that pretty much everyone on here helps each other out and is willing to give you the answers you need.

The free part of the forum has helped me a lot, but the War Room is what has REALLY got me going in making money on the internet. It may not be a lot to most marketers on this forum, but I made $62.11 in one day this week

Thank you guys for everything, this forum rocks!

Your in good hands now that you found the Warrior Forum

There are a lot of giving people here in this forum that will go out of their way to help just about anybody. My advice would be, after you get the help please follow the advice if it makes business sense to you personally.

There are a lot of people who ask for help but then never follow up on the advice given. In most cases the advice given could have been part of a coaching program selling for hundreds of dollars a month. I kid you not...

      Mike Hill

PS. Keep going, read some threads in this forum or use the search function to narrow down exactly what you're looking for and as Steve pointed out ask questions and then follow the advice. (Not saying that you wouldn't personally, just a reminder for everyone)

I think that word count does not really matter. If you have something to say that does not take a lot of words to say it, you should not have to write more just to have the minimum of words.

That's not what I'm saying at all...

What I am referring to is responding with intelligent posts and not one-liners reiterating what someone else said (i.e. copy and paste someone else's reply.)

Other posts that have no value and are only there to increase post count are posts like:

      "I agree with that"
      "me too"
      "wonderful post"
      "same here"

I think you get the point...

Although there is no specific word count there is however such a thing as intelligence and from the examples above those are not too intelligent.

I also paid for the access to the war room. It might be a good idea to consider changing members rights, allowing them to PM, when they spend the money to upgrade. That should indicate that they are not looking to just spam the forum, but that they are here to learn.

Sorry, I though you meant all the posts that were too short. What you say makes sense. Would'nt it be possible to automatically delete the "I agree with that" post to prevent such things from happening? I think this would be a great addon to the forum.

To be honest, I have no clue what privileges I'll have when I reach a certain post count. I just read and chime in now and then when I have something to contribute. Oh, and I've asked a few questions along the way and received very helpful information.

As for the length of posts, sometimes one word says it all and there's no need to ramble on.

    Hmm..
I must say I tend to condense my posts to be very short and to the point.

I want to write one liners all the time like "congrats" and "great idea", not because of post count, but because I want people to know I do appreciate all the knowledge and inspiration I get from this place. I am also really happy for people when they experience succcess.
Maybe WF should put a congrats button next to the thanks button. I would use it a lot!

    Hey Mike,

How about if I copy your entire post and put it in my post and then say that I agree?

Copy and paste is a little harder than you think for someone like me.

The Senior Warriors always add value to the forum----many times there's like an ecourse in the post---and it doesn't take a newbie long to realize that would be a good example to follow. It annoys me too when people take up space with "I agree" and stuff like that. Use the "thanks" button! Then when you have something to contribute, think it through, make it short and sweet. There's a proverb that says even a fool is considered wise when he keeps his mouth shut! Really, think "add value" and you will gain respect.
    okay, that's my rant.

Seriously, if someone does not really have enough to say to make it to a desired post count, what are you doing here?

Is it just to send a PM in a WSO?

If you don't want to contribute just buy your WSO and if there is a problem there are ways to deal with it other than just a PM.

Is it to view other areas of the Warrior forum? Why?

Oh, you think we have valuable things to teach you and you want to come in and learn from the pros because you heard this was a great marketing forum.

You may have heard that just about every important marketer on the 'net came through here and you want some of that.

How do you think it got that way?

From all of us sharing what we learned out there.

So either you think our rules are crappy and we should just keep handing over free info which is the entitlement attitude or, you want to game the system and trick us into giving you our hard earned experience which is stealing.

So which one of those two do you think we agree with?

If you said none. You're right.
