Best Place To Insert Opt-in Box On A Blog

There are so many places I could put an opt-in box on my new blog...

- Top left header
- Under each new blog post
- On the sidebar
- In the footer

As the list goes on...

Have you tested this or do you have a recommendation for where the best place would be to put an opt-in box?

    I've found the way Jeff Johnson does it to be the most effective.

    Instead of having it just stuck somewhere in your blog, create a separate optin page and create a banner that blends into your site that simply states the benefits of joining your list (that's it. The shorter the better). Then people will click on the banner and they will go to the optin page where they will get more details on the benefits, and hopefully optin.

    For me that has gained a much higher optin rate than by sticking the optin form on the side or having it popover, etc.

    Maybe we need Graphical Opt-In form on the right or left side upper in the blog.

    Then install the popup script for the opt-in too..

    Yes listen to Shawn...

    The sole purpose of having an optin form is to get the subscriber right?

    There is a lot of things happening on a blog, a lot of different links, posts and directions so the main focus is not on your optin form.

    Have a banner like Shawn said, but I would make it stick out instead of blending into the site... I would use an eye catching color like orange or red... (like Jeff Johnson uses) I'm sure he is testing different colors. And it doesn't have to be very big. Jeff uses a 210px Ã-- 35px banner above and below each post.

    All it has to say is something like "Free SEO Training Videos" click here... (of course make it specific to your niche... LOL)

    Get them onto a squeeze page where there are no distractions and they only have 2 options at this point... 1) Subscribe or 2) leave.

    Try this out and see if your subscriber rate increases.
