Little Known Insider Secrets That Will Put You One Step Ahead Of The Crowd

I responded to a post about breaking through hurdles in our marketing minds and stated that one of the things that I do is to go back to the basics.

Well after posting I thought about my "basics" in IM and the old Warrior reports were a big part of my Internet start so I decided to go back and look through some old reports.

I came across an old dusty copy of "The Secrets Of An Internet Marketing Warrior" and started reading.

Drawn to the chapter titled "Certain Words Are Irresistible" I realized that I had let those power words slip away from my marketing mind.

They were reserved for only the most important headlines and copy because I didn't want to overuse this potent spice that had been given to me.

So there they sat upon my sales letter shelf getting stale.

To see those beautiful words again and feel the power to capture the reader's attention made me want to run out and start writing them down anywhere. Everywhere!

Not just headlines. Article titles. Alongside keywords in blog posts. To sprinkle them lightly in comments and let them do their magic.

Now, here are these amazing nuggets that I want you to find a way to use in all of your writings and you too will be one step ahead of the crowd.

Thats a good list of 'power' words to incorporate into all your reports, sales pages, emails etc. I think it's important for all Warriors to keep a list of these and other words on hand so that you can juice-up your content any time you communicate with your audience.

Guess I'm a cynic (I am). Those are the very words that scream "overpriced, overhyped and unoriginal" to me. In other words, those are the very words that would make me NOT read.

        Hi rosetrees,

Many people in IM feel the same way; most likely because they are apt to be overexposed to them by the very nature of their work. However, the public at large may still respond to them more often than not.

It can be tricky, but we have to remember that we are not always the same as our target audience. Ultimately, you should test different words...constantly tweaking/testing/tracking.

        All th best,
        Michael

p.s. Thanks Matthew, nice list. Sometimes going back to the basics can make a huge difference.

This is one of the most difficult things that I go through. All of my business is in the non IM niches and many times I find my marketing brain saying exactly what Rosetrees said and then I have to either go against my jaded marketing mind and just trust the standby sales pitches or test.

Then when I do end up testing I find time and time again that most of the traditional hype still works.

All of us here pretty much agree that we personally hate pop-ups but they work when used properly.

I write a lot of stuff that I'm sick of seeing but as long as it's not illegal and unethical and will improve your profit, then try it.

          It sure beats digging ditches.

Actually, this list is from a study done quite a few years ago by Yale (I think) to find the most powerful words in advertising.

This is a pretty well known list of "power words" and it could be they've become over-used. It could also be that marketers have heard/seen them so much that we've become "immune", while the general public hasn't. And I'm sure their effectiveness varies from market to market.

However, I think this list is an excellent list for noobs to use to start, especially for testing and should be proven not to work before being dismissed.
