Help me decide wich domain name to use

I think that I'm a little retarded about domain names... I say this because it's hard to find a good 1 or 2 domain name words, so things gets hard to decide.

I have one idea that is nothing innovative, but I need to decide wich domain name definitely should I use.

Need to decide between "mylinkplace.com" or "myviralpages.com" wich one would you use?

The first one already is working with few posts and the other one I registered yesterday...

I'm getting neurotic, because in some strange way the domain name can have a big impact of success or failure...

Thanks in advance.

Thank you. Until few days ago, mylinkplace looked good for me, but after thinking a bit, I got in doubt if it was a good domain name.

I would love to have viralpages.com for 10 bucks, but it's a premium and expensive (at least for) domain to purchase.

By the way if "viralpages.com" is a premium domain for sale, adding a prefix still would look good, I think.

One word domains that make sense - yes. Two word domains are very easy to find. Just use one of these two tools:

The domain name doesn't matter as much as what is on it. Not at this level.

    Hmmm...I honestly don't know.

The only rules I follow for choosing one is if it is easy to say and easy to spell.

    Or you can try this:

    1. Tell a friend that you have two webpages and give him or her the name.
    2. Let a day pass.
    3. Ask them again if they remember any of the two webpages you told them =)

      It's a good idea

Honestly I don't know if I spent another 10 bucks for nothing.

I know several big and sucessfull sites with "strange" or "nonsense" names.

My vote is definitely for myviralpages. The other one sounds too spammy just as eternalworm said.

I think putting the "my" in it makes it more personal than just viralpages. It makes it sound like a cool tool or service that I may want to check out that can help "me".

It's easy to get caught up with finding the perfect domain name. However, I would just choose one and move on to the next step in the process. You can always change it later, and if you do, just do a redirect to your new domain name.

I have to agree with eternalworm, mylinkplace doesn't sound good for me so I'd go with myviralpages. Your domain name ideas are cool anyway.

I think I'll be moving to myviralpages.com as you guys said. Different people with same opinions really helps. And you are correct the idea of the site is that users could read content, contribute with content and so on...

I took the "idea" to put the prefix "my" from the old giant of social networking myspace.com

For me it's easy to find the perfect domain name, the problem is someone always registered it first. I know that getting traffic is very important, but a cool domain has it's importance.

Maybe I'm not smart, but I made a lot of research and could not find a great 1 or 2 words domain name that match my website niche.

Maybe. But I don't think I'll get traffic from ebola virus because there are many well ranked sites talking about it

It's will be a multi-niche site, also user's will be able to submit their own articles, stories and so on.

I'm planning to create a "similar" site of hubpages.

That's why I called it accidental traffic. If you have a plugin that tracks your incoming traffic and where it comes from, you'll be surprised at some of the keywords people can use to find your site.

It might not really matter what your site domain is, if you are planning on competing with Hubpages (and it sounds like you are going to try). If you could narrow it down to a more defined niche, rather than a catch all site, any domain name will have a better chance of becoming a 'household name'.

I spent some long time today hunting a similar but 2 words domain name and could not find anything really better than "myviralpages.com"

It's a silly question, but do you think that not having the "perfect" domain name is one thing that will avoid sucess? I'm getting paranoid thinking that I need a perfect short domain for doing well, maybe I'm crazy, but who knows?

I don't really like to have a domain with the word "my" and a word in plural like "pages". I know it's a paranoia, but I'm in doubt if I should make a research again to find another 2 words domain or move to next steps (write content and get traffic).

What would you do in my situation?

I would choose myviralpages.com because it's more catchy and would make me remember it more than mylinkplace.com

At the end of the day the domain name won't matter as long as your content is highly valuable.

Both of them would work because they are clear and simple ones, just focus on creating an outstanding brand for them.

    Good luck!
