When did you get real about making money online? Share your story

For me it all started because of a simple incident.

Few years ago, I was working as a sales executive for
a software company. Everything was fine, not great but
still OK.

One day, my co-worker had a "secret" meeting with
my manager.

I was wondering what was going on...

Sure enough, two weeks later I saw someone
in the office being interviewed by my co-worker.

He was looking for someone to replace me!

I'll never forget that day.

That moment I said to myself "enough with that
B.S!"

One month later I left the company and started
my efforts to make money online.

Best decision in my life.

Ryan

I was at university and working part-time in a hotel. They discovered my web design hobby and paid me to design them a website. We're going back 20 years, when anyone who knew HTML was considered a "wiz." They liked the finished site so much they told their friends. Their friends, some of them, owned hotels, too. Shortly after, my phone began ringing. It was around this time, chatting to other web designers, that I discovered affiliate marketing. The rest is history. I own a web design agency, but these days I don't do it for a living. They were fun times, though.

I was in university, wanted to learn the ways to make money online since average salary here in Estonia is less than $1000 per month. It's almost impossible to survive, imho.

At first I discovered Adsense, then affiliate marketing.

So I decided to go all in. It's been almost 4 years since I've been fully living from the internet and I'm not doing bad at all.

The downside is that I still haven't managed to finish university. I guess I don't have enough motivation do so.

As far as I do remember, the day I got real was during a time when I kept buying what others had to offer but finally dawned on me that the people who are actually making money have to sell (and not buy).

Whether you sell your own products or other people's products (affiliate marketing) is another story.

So that's when I begin to produce lots of videos and uploaded them on YouTube and other video sites that I quickly saw results

"When did you get real about making money online?"

I got real about making money when I was about eight years old. I was a young entrepreneur, was a member of Junior Achievement (look it up and encourage your school aged kids to join if they have any interest in business) in high school, have started and operated many businesses. I was selling lighters and watches out of a classified ad in The National Enquirer when I was 14. My parents had no idea.

To me there's nothing all that special about the "online" part of it. It's like mail order on steroids. I started in 1997 as an affiliate for Amazon books because in the early days that's all they were selling. Before long I was writing my own books and selling them on Clickbank. The rest of the story is highly classified.

I got real about making money when I turned 19 and found out my then girlfriend was pregnant and I was the father.

Fast forward to more recent times and I got real about making money online when I lost my job and had to face the reality of looking for another job in a less-than-stellar economy in an industry that had completely moved out of the state I live in. I went back to school and while I was in school I spent all my spare time reading up on MMO. I graduated college with a degree in Software, but the more valuable education was the one I got while learning IM.

Last time wasn't it "I built a website for a friend, and the rest is history."??

If you are going to try to "fake it till you make it," you might want to keep your "stories" straight.

As soon as I saw some profit It got me hyped, and decided to do it seriously. But seriously means different things for different people.

At one point i was doing 12 hour stints lol. (writing articles on fiverr).

All that stopped when I started outsourcing more and more, and finding how to make profit with people.

I was in a forum related to music and shared an affiliate link in my signature. I simply answered someones question about marketing.

I thought nothing about the traffic or money. I just gave the best answer I could to the fella.

I woke up the next day and saw a small commission in my paypal. That when I became a believer.
