And if you find your pictures are too big, I've had a lot of success with
Yahoo! Smush.it™

  It's possibly about images and image size. People don't always optimize their images.
  If it's wordpress then the smushit has a plugin that works well. It does all your images in bulk.

6.5 seconds is a pretty slow time for loading your page.

Of interest are the 93 requests. Does your page contain a whole bunch of images?
