Web Hosting Suggestions (Need a new one)

Hi Warriors:

Hope the holiday was safe/happy.

Could you please be kind enough to give me advice on web hosting companies you would recommend that can offer the following:

High Percentage of up-time

Phone support (I live in the USA) that hopefully is 7 days and 24 hours or close to it

Knowledgeable tech/customer service staff

Ease of use for updating and making changes.

My current choice shows that even impartial ratings are often very very very very very very wrong!

Thank you for your time!

I have had great success with 2 hosting companies:
    HostGator
    HostMonster

Both are very reliable hosting services with great support.

      Hi Michael:

Thanks for reply. I have heard mixed reviews on Hostgator with no middle ground. People either think it is the greatest or vent for hours.

      Have a great day!

Dude, if you pay me $50 bucks per year, I will be your host and support. I've been up for about 99.9% of the time.

Cheap and unlimited domains and the whole nine yards.

From personal experience (rather than company experience) I recommend:

    - Hostgator
    - Dreamhost

    and above all else:

    - LiquidWeb ... best support on the web.

      Hi again Mark:

Called Liquid Web and they sounded very articulate with real people and actual tech support 24 hours daily. My current impersonation of a web host has tech support or lack there of 3 minutes per day with 6 hour lunch breaks and 456 hour hold times (only to not be helped).

      Enjoy the day!

      Hi Andy:

      Hope you are well today.

The results I have heard about HostGator are interesting because there are no middle views. It is either people giving them an A or an F.

The issues that have come up in conversations and emails I have had with folks using the service or that were customers that weren't happy goes with tech support and customer service. They feel everything is fine when there is up-time (99+ percent) but if there is an issue the staff is not all that helpful and knowledgeable especially if it is something out of the normal spectrum.

I have no like or dislike of HostGator. I have never used them, no family member has either, and I have never promoted them. My words are only what former/present customers have mentioned. There are as many that think they are the best and wouldn't consider a change. That is great. Always better to be satisfied!

      All the best!!!

I would generally go with the small scale hosting companies. I've had good experience with a host run by a single individual, NO it was not a reseller.

The point is, I can always expect a high priority support from small companies or individuals instead of the high-fluff companies. I've heard mixed responses about hostgator so far though.

    Currently, I'm with a1-webhost.

    Regards,
    Clayton

I've had good experiences with HostGator. Great support and reliable hosting. The cPanel interface works quite well.

While I still use GoDaddy hosting for some sites, I don't recommend them due to the constant, intrusive, upselling and their non-standard setup for PHP, htaccess and other things.

I'm looking to expand to another host to diversify outside of the HostGator/ThePlanet data center and I haven't decided who to go with yet but I'm considering HostNine or Media Temple. I'll have to give Liquid Web a look too I guess.

I've used three hosting companies now and Hostgator comes out at the top of the pile. GoDaddy was just not intuititive for a relative newbie with their nonstandard panel setup. The last one just plain sucked as it was always down!!

When ever these questions come up I never see the hosting company I use mentioned. It is WebHero.com and they have great support 24/7 and I lot of options. I have had a dedicated server with them for many years on a co-location agreement and they have been excellent with very knowledgeable tech support. I have used them since 1994 and never thought about changing.

I have used Godaddy before, but I hear Hostgater is good, or at least it seems to me that enough folks represent them as an affiliate.... which is probably why they promote them over anyone else. I really would like to know who is the best as well.

    Hi Craig,

LiquidWeb are the only hosting company that have responded to my tickets within 15 mins EVERY time. Outstanding support and they bend over backwards to help with installs, extra modules etc. In the last 10 years i've pretty much used every host out there and these guys are leagues ahead. I have a VPS with them. Search on Twitter and you'll find pretty much 100% happy customers...

All hosting companies where you have to share a server with others is almost the same.
They oversell space and bandwidth and the mysql connections sometimes fail at a daily basis.

If I get enough money I will switch to a dedicated, preferably managed server for my own use. I don't need more than 2 gig with space, but the bandwidth is good to have a lot of.

I've tried a stack of different hosts and since going with Hostgator I've been extremely pleased with their service. Before I signed up with them I did a lot of reading, and the sites I looked at averaged about 99% positive reviews for them.

My sites hosted with them are all lightning fast, they support just about everything, and I've found the customer service staff to be outstanding thus far. You'll get the occasional unhelpful customer service person with any large company, though I haven't had the issue yet with Hostgator, which to me is pretty impressive considering their size.

I only ever recommend Hostgator these days.

I have two hosting companies at the moment Kiosk and Hostgator. I don't think you can beat Hostgator on value for money. The package I have is 1/4 of the monthly cost of Kiosk and offers unlimited domain hosting vs 8 domains on Kiosk. The only reason I am also staying on Kiosk is their current "transmutation" into GVO and I am just curious what comes out of it. I have not had any problems with either of them and support has been good, but then I am not a demanding customer (yet).

          Hi Craig,

Apologies for only answering your question now, but I was away for a few days, then got sucked into Twitter, then spat out by Twitter, but now I am back to normal again (whatever normal means).

Kiosk is a subsidiary of Telco Advertising Ltd which has been in business for 35 years. It is also the hosting company Mike Filsame is using (I think exclusively). They have different packages available for all budgets and needs and a very responsive support team.

They also have an affiliate program which is structured like a MLM system (which I was not even aware of when I joined).

I am currently on a Platinum package which costs me $24.95/mth and is pretty descent when you start out. It is limited to 8 hosted domains and 5 MySQL databases, but apart from that has all the cpanel options etc you want.

I am going to upgrade to the Titanium package in the next few days, which is giving you unlimited domain hosting, web space of 15000 megs, bandwidth of 200000 megs, unlimited MySQL databases and many more useful things for $44.95 which is pretty good value for money I think.

BTW you can try them for $1.00 for one month. I will DM you my affiliate link if you want to check them out (I haven't posted enough to leave my link here) or you can of course just google wwwkiosk and they'll come up in top spot.

          Trust that answers your question.

          Have a great day,
          Cheers, Peter

    Hello,

    Take a look at

Ebook General Store - web hosting and domain registration

    Hope that helps

You can also do a review of any hosting that has been said here
do a search in Google the key is to find bad reviews and see what
they don't like. If you just do a review you will find a bunch of affiliate
sites fake review sites that marketers like to put on line to push a web host
service so be careful it is not just a fake review site.

You might want to search the key work ripoff in front of the hosting company
name so it might look like this ( ripoff hostgator ) and so on.

    Really hope that helps
