Yes, it is very possible. If you use the blogging strategy you will get long term traffic and you will not have to spend a dime.

I love this tactic but it does take some time and you really need to optimise your posts to make them rank in the search engines.

If you just made 1 SEO blog post per day then you will get tons of traffic after some months. Be constant and get more traffic! That's the key.

When you try to generate free traffic for long-run, you actually have to spend time, money and other resources. Free traffic isn't free, technically.

Let's talk about blogging. You write a post every week or maybe 3 posts a week. You are spending time to write these posts, and if you are of the view that you are getting the traffic (organic) for free, you are apparently saying that your time has no worth.

In my books, there is nothing free in this world. Period.

Paid can be faster unless you target to put your content on other peoples website. You can write long articles, informative, and entertaining articles, and syndicate it to other websites. I've seen many people here on the Warrior Forum have tons of success with that.

The SHORT answer is : Yes it does work.

The LONG Answer : If you want consistent traffic online you better be ready to put in the time and effort that is unless you know of other people who will do it for you and produce quality results. If you don't have money yes, you can build up lots of traffic, but there is not instant solutions when it comes to organic traffic, you must work hard and focus on one method and be consistent with it if you want the long term benefit of it. Many people try one method and hop onto another method because the method the are currently doing doesn't produce instant results. Instant results is when you have have money to invest in your business and are looking to scale faster. But with that, you are risking losing money. Free traffic you are risking time, would you rather put in the work upfront and create long term results or would you rather pay for visitors and take your chance and making income at a much faster pace? My recommendation is to do both, when you know you have a funnel that converts, work on free traffic, than from there once you have made some income use some of that money and reinvest it toward paid marketing. Both are valuable and you should work on having both in your business. I personally enjoy traffic that lives forever , without ever having to pay for it, but with that of course comes with dedication effort, and not making excuses!

The traffic will be longtime, if your site content is good. If your site content is not good, One visitor will never visit your site again, because at the fist time visit, they have a negative impact on his mind. the visitor will visit your site again & again if it is informative.

Social media, forum marketing and SEO are good way for generating free traffic. But don't forget to build your own list for your business in long term.

There are many ways to generate so called free traffic. But keep in mind even free traffic will cost at least time.

The best way to do it is to generate traffic to build your list because when you do that then you have real long term traffic. Your list will be you most precious asset. It's like traffic on demand. But of course you have to build trust and a relationship with your subscribers to get the real benefit from this kind of traffic.

You could start with video marketing, forum marketing and blogging to get the ball rolling and to start your list. Those are the traffic methods I use myself and they work really good for long term traffic.
