Amazon rejected my application ...

Hey guys got my first sale with amazon but they declined my application afterwards ....

My site is a product review site
-has 8 pages with around 250-350 words talking about the categories
-has over 45 product reviews with around 250-350 unique content about the product

I got a email saying why It got rejected stating the reasons below

- Lack of content which is original and beneficial to your visitors
- Pages that are mainly empty when advertisement content is removed websites containing mostly images, videos, or Flash animations will not be approved

Any idea how to get accepted or has this happened to you and how did you fix it?

Cheers

I also got my application rejected for almost the same reasons you listed above except I had this one

"Your website is not mutually beneficial for us" I still don't understand what it means.

I have changed my website after that almost completely. Hope I get accepted this time. Amazon Affiliate Program is getting difficult day by day.

Blogger has a similar email that they send out. It really doesn't tell me why it got rejected or how to re submit it for another chance

You don't have enough content that provides value to the visitor.

350 words is really short. You should have some featured reviews that are much longer.

I actually think a site like this is not a good one to try and get approved. It's the kind of site you can build once you have already been approved with a more compliant site.

Best is an authority blog in a niche that is full of information as well as products. Mix information articles- which can have contextual amazon links and adsense- with longer form product review pages which promote a product on Amazon and do not have AdSense.

Once you get approved you can build sites like yours without any problem.

The problem with a site like yours is it looks just like 100's of other similar sites (thisiswhyimbroke) and can easily be setup and almost automated with plugins.

That's okay to use and not a violation of ToS but it's not enough to get a new affiliate approved.

At least that is my take based on the feedback you received.

The answer is to address each part of the complaint. You should add more content on each page, by lengthening your articles/reviews and add pages that feature 'content' (not reviews) and no advertising. If you have pages that are just video/image related, then update those pages by adding chunks of text. You can always reapply after updating your site.

    Simple solution:

    1. Longer Articles: 500-750 Words and More
    2. More Articles
    3. A Good Design

You have to appreciate, they receive a great many applications from BH marketers who set up, often, quite lame sites but intend to pump them with immense traffic. If your offering looks lame, too, you'll fall into this potential category.

I just checked out your site and I do recommend to change your header for something more professional. Even though you may not believe it Amazon does check the overall quality of your site.

Also, I would use another type of font for your homepage. Something more understandable.

The more valuable content you create the better you will rank and the higher chance you will have to get your application accepted. When I was in regular affiliate marketing my application was rejected several times just because how it looked!

    Hope this helps!

Something similar happened to me. Not with their affiliate program though or Amazon Services. I was making $100/day within my first 30 days with Amazon, then out of the blue, they froze my account. All money that i had in my account was "froze", and they never released it, and never gave it to me. And i was a good seller.

Whoever bought from me received a delivery confirmation email the next day, and they were happy. Shipped next day. I spent all of my money shipping off products. Didn't have any money for all of my hard work. Then i had to go work at the Taco Bell down the street. The only good thing about that job is that they let us eat on the job.

I finally decided to sell on my own site, and not try to collaborate with Amazon or Ebay ever again.
