  Not sure what you mean by "engage" but I'll take a stab since I hadn't gotten around to purchasing your book yet... I'm guessing how to get started for free?
  
  Assuming this is a total newb, learn about video by watching some for starters. See what others do and mimic them until you develop a style of your own. Go to Youtube, Metacafe, etc.. and browse the top played vids to get an idea of what captures people for one reason or another. Check the serp's on some vids to see how certain people effectively use keywords differently to obtain ranking and market their video.
  
  Also, be sure to note of how successful certain vids are of "ensuring" users click the resource boxes, ctr, and so on.... Whether this is from pointing during the vid, text over vid, closing credits with call to action, whatever.
  
  At this point, you should have a general idea of what YOU would like to do. Maybe you want to make some text slides and just talk through them, without videoing your self for the first time. Whatever you choose, I would highly recommend getting Sony Vegas, as it comes with a thirty day trial, so you can be on your way to marketing with video for free. This is a matter of opinion, as some will say just use Movie Maker or whatever, but IMHO, if you're going to learn a platform, Sony Vegas is the way to go.
  
  Explaining video creation here is way to broad. We'll assume you're going to pull in some slides, add some effects or music, talk a bit about what you have to offer, and most of all, verbally issue a call to action at some point in time. It would be recommended to convert your video to FLV format for faster uploading times.
  
  Upload to various sites of your choice.
  
  Pull your Youtube feed and submit to rss sites. Go where your topic is being discussed and make it known you found a great video to help explain "whatever." Links, links, links....articles, blogs, etc...
  
  Keep in mind, at any time, you can harness whatever power your vids are pulling by changing the "more info" box (youtube) to a more compelling offer or tweak it into a more appealing solution for your target's need.

  Why video marketing:
  
  The attention span of today's internet user is remarkably short. Places like YouTube take advantage of this and thus have become immensely popular.
  
  The idea behind video marketing is to serve as a welcome mat, an invitation for the watcher to explore your site or other videos further.
  
  This website claims that a successful video comes down to this formula:
  
  "Secret Formula" - .50C + .15M + .20T + .15P = Success
  
  50% content
  15% metadata
  20% Thumbnail
  15% Promotion
  
  Good content means many different things:
  *Keep it short (as possible)
  *Inform the watchers upfront that the video will be short and only take a moment of their time (not necessary, but a simple trick nonetheless)
  *Use relevant visuals. Record yourself talking (webcam) or record your desktop while (for example) giving a tutorial on how to use a certain program or implement an IM method.
  
  Metadata comes down to the tags you use and can help is youtube search rankings. Further metadata can be added to the video itself, although this is may be considered a more advanced topic. See here for a tutorial.
  
  Thumbnails can be a killer. It's already been mentioned, but a thumbnail of a hot chick instantly improves view count. In youtube, simply make the 1/2 point of your video a still of a model or some other eye-grabbing picture.
  
  Promotion can mean many things. Basic article marketing (to get backlinks to your video) or even better you can use the social functions of sites like youtube (add friends, subscribers, etc) to promote your videos.   Other simple tricks include adding a watermark to your video, ending your video with a call-to-action, and adding appropriate links in the video info box.

I can't see any reason why you would not be allowed to Daniel but giving the book away simply for making a post after other Warriors paid you for the product, well It doesn't sit well with me and I wouldn't be in a hurry to put money in your pocket again.

Giving away 5 copies in exchange for advice, seems fair, giving it away for no reason after people have paid you good money, its not a great way to build a lasting relationship between you and your customers.

People like John Reese (With Traffic Secrets 2.0) have done this before, for products that cost 10x more than what my e-book costs. Right here, in the WF as well. After they have sold thousands also.

I'm just giving back to the community after the community has helped my success quite a lot.

If you want to bash my give away, you might as well bash on the thousands of marketers and companies (online and offline) that give away their products after they have sold many.

Great, this is what I get for being nice and giving some stuff away.

You can consider it bashing but that's not actually my intention, trust me when I bash, I BASH, and I don't think you deserve to be bashed, this is just sane commentary.

I could care less about $20, it's the principle and I didn't want you to see just positive commentary from happy folks gladly taking a freebie, without seeing the flip side of the coin , because sometimes what you don't hear from disgruntled customers is actually more important than what you do hear from happy ones, you can learn from both.

I don't doubt your intentions were genunine Daniel, but just be aware there are two sides to every step you take and of course those who are getting it for free won't be overly negative but your customers who did pay you won't be thinking the same and it's important a few people at least made that point. The vast majority will stay silent but I will stake my grandmother on it, they will have formed an opinion on it and kept it to themselves.

You can take the feedback or leave it, but it's important at least you see it.

All the best for your IM future Daniel, don't take my comments too negatively, believe it or not , there potentially something of value in them.

One this should have gone into the free section of the forum.

Two giving it away while the wso is still running, is a way of self promoting the wso without mentioning it.

Daniel tried this before he released his wso, and I've read the book and I would say, it's OK but nothing different from a million others.

To compare yourself with John Reese is laughable. They dont in the middle of a campaign suddenly offer a few free copies, in the hope of getting some free reviews.

I wouldn't think I could top any of the tips already put out here but something I learned about videos if anyone is doing fitness related videos on the web is that workout videos with hard rock music in them tend to get more views and positive comments than others. Also for those new to video marketing when making videos be sure to keep the title of the video related to the keywords that someone would be typing in to search for them. "How-to" videos can be very powerful using the steps already outlined by others.

I don't need anymore reviews or testimonials, I already sold over 1,000 copies from the WSO alone and there's more than 40 in feedback in that thread and another 40 or so in the old forum WSO thread. Wether it's better than others or not, it doesn't really matter because my customers are satisfied and making money with it, which I feel great about because it's my first IM product.

And Bev, 10 free copies of Traffic Secrets 2.0 were offered right here by Allen himself for the first 10 people to reply to a thread, one week after TS2 launch. Then another 10 free copies were offered for the best advice to newbies, I believe you got a copy yourself.

I'm not trying to compare myself to anyone here, I'm just stating that it has been done before.

and you don't understand the basics of what I said it is the fact that you are still running your wso and self promoting it at the same time here in the forum. What Allen did is totally different to this, so don't even consider putting yourself on the same level.

And this is why we have a free section, for people to put their ebook in for free.

1. This is not promoting my WSO, if anything it will hurt my sales, why would people buy it after I gave away 25 copies free? This is called giving back to the community.

2. I have no problem if this is moved to the free section, I didn't even know there was one.

3. How is "The first 10 to reply to this thread get a free copy of TS2" different than "The first 20 to reply to this thread get a free copy of TNB"?

This has gone completely out off topic and now I'm just feeling insulted. That's what I get for being nice and in a good mood. Since when is giving out free stuff harming anyone?

And as for the complaining... Do you go to the store after buying something complaining that they are having a promotion on something you paid full price for months ago?

Every online Guru is doing this and they do it for a reason.... IT WORKS!!

  Yes people do this AFTER they have sold their product, which is further down the line when they are launching a new product not usually whilst the current product is still being sold!

  BEST video advice is to keep it short to the point and always link to a sort of show notes., But even bigger that that is emphasize that taking action on small amounts of information is best when starting out you don't want to study for a living you want to make some money so TELL them now go and put this into practice on a short actionable video lesson!

ok, as far as video marketing goes I have a little trick I use. Some people might consider it a little grey hat but it does work for extra traffic.

I have found its hard to get traffic through youtube, so I started thinking of the best way to do so. I noticed that all of the videos with girls on it got alot of views.

In all honesty I have only used this for personal videos (as im am an actor also) and it has given me over 500,000 views on some videos. I did it for exposure and have not tried it for making money online yet or anything like that.

I suppose this would work best for some like making profits from adsense. But anyways all I simply did was find a picture of a pretty girl and insert the pic in the exact middle of the video (because this is the pic that youtube puts as the main video icon.)

So simply create your video and split it halfway in the middle and insert a picture of a pretty girl and you will see your traffic spike. Now title the video something like "hot girl dances" or even your orginal title plus "hot girl dancing."

Basically your just getting all the guys searching for pretty girls on youtube, this works well for exposure but I have never tried it for making money. None the less you can get some major traffic from this method, although its not targeted. But if you can figure out a way to use this traffic it always brings me at least 100k vistors to 500k.

The time frame is from only days to months to when all of the traffic comes in. I remember one time my video had over 10,000 views within the first 8 hours of uploading it, but then others it takes a week before you even see your first few thousand views. But I do this for exposure to help with my acting career, so hope this helps someone
