Membership site or product site????

Hi,

I want to start selling PLR products but I'm not sure if i should start a membership site or just a normal product site.

I see the advantage of a membership site being you get monthly recurring income, but not everyone would want to pay every month and also they wouldn't know what products they would be recieving.

With a product site, customers would have an option of what they want so they can get products related to their niche, but then I'm thinking I would be cutting myself short by using this method.

Whats everyones views???

    If you are going to take the plunge into PLR products, here's some suggestions:
    1) It's a tough niche, good luck!
    2) Make sure the PLR is your own and that it is amazing quality.
    3) Limit the copies out in the wild. Nobody wants PLR that's all over the place.
    4) Overdeliver on the value and make sure your samples are top notch. I can't tell you how many people have sample pages with grammatical/spelling errors on them.

    Oh, offer the products by themselves or more cheaply as part of a membership.

    I had the same question a few months ago. I decided to do a one time sign up versus monthly fee and sell PLR and affiliate products within the site. A gave much of my PLR product away for free as a thnak you signing up and am using the higher quality PLR with websites to sell.

    If you really want to start your PLR site then think 100 times before you start. I had spent $1700 and still I have not received anything fruitful in hand to sell and I am end up with paying interest on my borrowing.

    I was looking to bunch products together in packs and sell the packs rather than a membership site.

    Has anyone tried this method or thinks it will be successful? Would this be something that people would be interested in buying?

    You can actually do both. Just create 2 websites, one as a membership site and the other as a straight sell product site. After some time, you'll know which one works best.

    Another way to do both is to set up a membership site that offers a 6 month term with no rebilling. As far as the customer is concerned, it's the same as a product site, but they can renew their membership to get additional content that's added later. This is how I have my main site set up.

    I would start a membership site but I would not sell any used PLR products that thousands already have...

    I would create my own products, many people just do not realize how "easy" it is to create your own products. Truly this is not as hard as you may think, sure it is a little time consuming and you may need a proof reader or something but that is why we have wonderful WF members such as Lin ( LinWrites.com - Ghostwriting Services and Content Writing ) ...

    Creating your own products that help solve someone elses problem is the best way to go and creating related products to the first product will help increase your members and help retain a higher recurring rate.

    Both...

    Have a low-level entry membership that offers a monthly PLR then offer others for additional payments.

    You could also do a bunle every 3 months that has X PLR products and only sold to X people.

      Create your own .... Trust me create something new and something that is going to solve others issues..

      For example:

      I get a few PM's from forum members asking how Scribd works. Matter fact just got another PM asking this minutes ago.

      Ok so they have a problem and want the answer to solve that problem. So you go and register for Scribd and you learn everything about the site you can..

      * Upload docs in different formats
      * Make friend request
      * Post comments
      * Test out the buy/sell features
      * Drive traffic to your docs and document how and track the traffic
      * Make notes of everything you do

      Once you have tested out the site for several weeks, drove traffic, actually made sales, increased your traffic on your website, and etc... Then it is time to create you new product because you have documented everything you did.

      So your product would be something like:

      "Discover How To Build Massive Traffic From Scribd.com"
      "Amazing Inside Tips On Using Scribd Effectively"

      You would prepare everything is a doc/text format.. If you are not a writer then after you have put everything together go get a writer such as Lin ( LinWrites.com - Ghostwriting Services and Content Writing) and have her proof read it. She is really great and she will help you out...

      Once she has the final copy for you then transform it into pdf format. You now have a brand new product that helps solve someone elses problem. Yes this does take time but if you want to put out quality products that are going to solve someone elses problems then you need to be prepared to do the research.

      Find another related site and rinse and repeat.. Before you know it you have a collection of related sites with full details. Also mind you now in the process of doing this you will be driving traffic to your site / blog and should be generating sales also. So in reality you are killing 2 birds with one stone, creating a new product + generating traffic and sales at the same time.

    That sounds good to me. That's also what seomoz does, sells a membership, and separate ebooks.
