I bought the domain from Godaddy for $10. I am new to domain flipping and I don't have a clear idea on appraisals. Can anyone please let me know how much could I get for these details.

  • To me it would be worth exactly what you paid for it, $10.

    • For me, it would be the same thing.

He just bought it and he would be lucky to just get maybe $20 for that domain name.

Now if you would create a website and have it ranked high, then the value of your domain name/website would be a lot higher.

  • The right question should be where I can find people who will be interested in the said domain name.

Once you will find someone who is interested in the domain name that you have, you can earn a lot. It is all about finding the right audience that's actually in need of this and only this domain name.

Otherwise, someone like me will not going to buy your domain even for $5 just because I don't need it.

  • I don't think you can ask any high price unless that you find someone that really needs this domain name.

    • If no one registered it in the past few years that we have had the internet then no one really needs it.

  • Is there some significance to this name that leads you to
believe it might be worth more than the 10 bucks you paid?

As for the other names listed the only similarity I see is the word The...

    • Personally, I think its a rather cool URL. I would suggest developing it a bit, and you could seriously make something of it.

And for some of you... "Cognizance" is actually a word in the English language.... meaning - Knowledge, notice, or awareness.

Would make a GREAT IM Brand. Ill buy it for $30!!!!

  • These days domain flipping isn't as big anymore. Unless the domain is a few characters long or if its getting monthly traffic, its not worth anything...

Sure, people still make good money flipping domains but its quite hard now. Your best bet is to set up a blog and get some traffic flowing.
  • I think it will worth a lot to someone in the media industry, just try to offer it to media outlets email them.

    • OP... You can demand what you want but you aint gonna get squat...
We have all made mistakes in the beginning, thinking that we fell upon a spectacular domain name. Only to realize it's worth nothing....

      Complete horse bollocks...
PS. You can not post gibberish just to advertise your sig....

  • Actually it is a new domain, so this rate is not high.

  • This is not domain a appraisal forum so you can't expect someone to pay thousands of dollars because you feel that the domain is valuable... to you.
  • How much can you demand you ask? Well you can demand whatever you want, but i'm not sure how much people will pay you. There are so many ways not to get a good domain it's hard to find people willing to pay you off.
  • I think instead of trying to find domains that may be valuable, you should hunt for domains that will be valuable.

When I first found out about Google Glasses, I found out the technology behind it all (augmented reality) and tried to buy augmentedreality, com.

To my suprise, Godaddy said it was available, so I went to buy it. Someone had got there first and it would have cost me over $100k
  • Well...

A domain is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

But - in an effort to be less vague here - I would say that you're in for a hard flip. You'll be lucky to sell.

What you need to do is learn the ins-and-outs of domain flipping.

But at least you took action!

    • In my opinion its not worth much. IMHO if someone on here wants to give you $30, then I would take it.

What it boils down to is that you can't demand anything for any domain. Well, you can, but it won't do much good. That particular domain would be hard to dump at any price, but let's say it was a good one. It's up to you to find buyers who might be interested in your domain name. They don't just come.

I know you're new to domaining, and I bought hundreds of dollars worth of useless domains when I started too. A domain name needs to have commercial value for people to be really interested in them. There needs to be a clear way for people to make money on them. Look up Gene Pimentel. He has a couple courses on domaining. It would be well worth the money.
  • I would not have paid the registration cost on this. First, the word "Cognizance" is not a common word recognized by the general population. Most will have a difficult time remembering the name, or how to spell it. Second, adding the word "the" kills the value tremendously, unless it is absolutely needed.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Technically its worth less, about $6.. because $10 was the retail value lol
  • Another thing you should do before you buy a domain is look for a GoDaddy coupon. You could have gotten the domain for $1 or $2 with a coupon. Almost doubles the profit if you end up selling it for $20.
  • I have tried the domain flipping game for a while .... I didn't really succeed with it but that was because I didn't want to keep learning it.

The domain you got is not really worth much. Just take a look at the Alexa Rankings and that should tell you a lot....

    thecognizance.com Site Overview

It just looks like a brand new domain name! ...

So you would need to build it up and maybe get it to a Page Rank 1 or 2 to sell it for a good price. It is a process and it takes time.

    I hope this helps!

I wish you the best of the best!

    Cheers!
  • I make $100-200k a year from domain flipping as one of my companies but you can't just buy a sell domains.. there is a process between is that brings the magic, and profitability, to the formula. If you need some guidance on how to flip domains and actually turn sales Im glad to spare a 10-20 phone call with ya, maybe it will help ya.

    • Hi, Im new to domaining as well, and I guess like most other newbies im ecited about my domain names as well. I was just wondering how do i go about finding clients. I see all these places that suggest using keyword finders and just contact the users looking for specific keywords, but where do I begin with that. I own vacaters.com, but with all the places like kyak and tripadvisory who else would want a domain name about vacation planning, even tho millions search for vacations online everyday.
  • 1) CREATE UNIQUE CONTENT FIRST!
    2) Start driving traffic to it. PPC, Paid, Social PPC
    3) Monetize it with AdSense
    4) Makes revenue from it for a few months
    5) List it on Flippa

    • To me the domain is worth $0.00 however that doesn't mean thats the true value of the domain.

A domain name is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it, not a penny more not a penny less!

Just because domain A sold for xxx,xxx doesn't mean domain B will sell for similar. While you don't have a clear price in mind, you should post it in the make offer sections on forums and wait to see if anyone takes you up on it, but bare in mind sometimes it can be years before an end user will come along and want to buy your domain and there are portfolio holders that's been sitting on domains for years before a sale is made.

Good luck with selling it though.
