i have asked here in this forum about redirecting my affiliate link to a regular domain name and i have gotten some great feed back from you guys .

however i have a question about pinging a new domain name / s .

how much traffic would i get from the search engines once i ping my new domain names ?

can i expect to get a lot of traffic or very little ?

sorry guys i'm new to this concept . not new to getting traffic , just new to the fact of redirecting a affiliate link to a domain name .

thanks to all in advance .

    No traffic.

Mate, it is all about traffic. You will have to do some really hard work to get the traffic.

I'm also curious: why would you want to redirect an affiliate-link to a domain-name?

To answer your question, I completely agree with Eddy (just above) that there's no reason to imagine that doing this will bring any traffic at all; but I still don't quite understand why you'd want to do it, anyway? Forgive me if I've missed something obvious (it wouldn't be the first time!).

the reason is its much safer to direct people to a domain name , rather than a short URL or even a cloaked link . this keeps people from stealing your commissions or referrals (which ever the case may be) .

That's a costly operation. I would imagine that you gonna need to buy lots of domains.

A cheaper option would be to use cloaked link such as domain . com / some-keywords

or subdomain such as some-keywords . domain . com

        Yes; that's right.

No - you've misunderstood this, Donald. That isn't a reason for doing what you suggested. It's a reason for doing the opposite: it's a reason for using a re-directed domain-name, for people to click on, rather than an open affiliate-link. You asked about re-directing your affiliate-link to a domain-name. I think perhaps you meant "re-directing a domain-name to point to your affiliate-link so that people click on the domain-name without seeing your affiliate-link". That isn't what you said.

No. This isn't the main reason for doing it, at all. This is widely misunderstood. What you're asking about can be a good thing to do, but that isn't really the reason.

Don't forget that there's a legal/regulatory requirement to disclose that you're an affiliate. The purpose of doing this is not to conceal from your subscribers/visitors that you're an affiliate.

      Donald,

Do you know what a ping is and what it's used for?

If you don't, then why would you expect to get any traffic from it?

If you do, then you understand that there is no reason a search engine would send you traffic from a simple ping.

Create post on the new site. Enter it into a free mass RSS pinger. You can be specific about the nature of the post, i.e. what you are trying to rank for etc. This should get Google to crawl it/index and update a few times. Then follow-up with social signals.

You should learn what happens when you ping a site.

Also... dont redirect an affiliate link to a domain name. Bad practice. If the vendor end the affiliate program, you're sales go straight to zero - probably without you knowing anything about it.

Pinging can be useful for indexing - to get your site indexed in search engine.
