Decide on the brand image that you are seeking to promote and build your branding idea around that. I would also include a little musical jingle (i.e. Mcdonalds "I'm loving it.") Go to fiverr.com and buy a gig for $5 to have someone produce your logo and then sign someone else up at $5 to record you a jingle.

The most important thing is to be consistent. Use your logo on everything, use the same fonts and colors consistently.

When you've found your brand name, if you want a cheap but decent logo making have a look at this gig http://www.fiverr.com/antonclevela97...ive-hi-quality

This isnt my gig, ive personally used them! and was impressed with the final result.

If you struggle to come up with a brandable name, have a look on ebay.. Plenty of brandable domain names for sale on there for reasonable money.

You are taking the long hard road to Branding if this is the problems you are having. the same goes with your web address. What exactly does branding have to do with your message?

When was the last time you typed "Searchengine.com" you DONT you type Google.

When was the last time you typed "Grocerystore.com" you DONT you type "Insert grocer here.com" ( Safeway, Albertsons, Publix )

When was the last time you typed "Generalmerchandiser.com" you DONT you type walmart.com or you type target.com

These are all examples of "Branding" and NONE of them would be defined as you are trying to develop for yourself.

Message is a "Tag line"... as in GE - "We bring good things to life" Or "Imagination at work" Motel 6 - "we will leave the light on for you" MasterCard - "There are some things money cant buy" Volkswagen - Think Small

Again examples of MAJOR brands, and their tag lines.... Those are examples of branding.

I hate to say this to you, but you are putting WAY to much thought into what you are doing and spending way to much brain power doing it.

Logos... I will tell you, you are wasting your time and money... here is a link to some "Popular" brands. Company logos and slogans | Creative Ads

There are only 3 examples on that page that do not actually use text to drop their company name, and that would be Apple, Nike, and McD's. But that has not always been the case... There is more than a lot of money involved to make an image into who you are.

I personally go with the Microsoft type logo on everything I do( Font is different of course ). On the net you can minus the tag line and place your "Logo" right into a Navigation Bar or where ever else WAY WAY to many people think their logo means something to their site visitors... it means Nada, don't bother with developing a logo and save yourself on many levels.

            Hey savidge4

These suggestions are great! I think I'll keep it simple as you recommended.
About the logo, unlike what you said, I do not think it should say something about the brand (necessarily) just to be associated with it, which means instead of signing my name or brand name, you can put your logo and it will give the mental association for business.

            Thank you very much

I cant seem to find the study with a quick search. But a few years ago there was a study done with some major brands BMW being one of them. One would think the BMW logo is a identifiable brand. However, take the "BMW" out of the logo...and 80% of people didn't have a clue.

To get to the level of "brand Awareness" that you are thinking takes millions and billions of dollars. McD's as an example tried the M ( Alone ) once in 1961 and it was a failure, it wasn't until 1996 that they tried again, but remained with the M and the word "McDonalds" across the bottom. Its just Recent that the M is standing on its own and tagged with "Im loving it" ( All new McD's locations are now sporting the "M" without McDonalds on their main frontage signs )

that M was 53 years in the making ( the M first appeared in 1961 )

So if you are thinking that a logo is going to help you get repeat visitors to your site, I hate to say this but you are kidding yourself. Spend more time on the CONTENT of your site. That is what is going to bring them coming back while you wait 50 years for brand recognition.

You can outsource the naming part to namestation or crowdspring

I come up with my brand ideas myself and if you think about it, i believe you can come up with something too. Think about playing with keywords, mixing 2 words together, but at the same time keeping it simple.
For the logo, as I'm not a graphic designer, I outsource it to crowdfunding sites such as freelancer. In this case you just come up with your keywords and preferable colors, and leave the rest to the pros.

    Cheers

If you *really* want to brand yourself (like Michael Jordan, Jay-Z, P-Diddy, Tiger Woods etc)... start with an awesome product and marketing plan.

    Example: Rich Jerk.

Sure anyone can come online with a crazy fake name and have domain names and articles, and press releases all around it - but if it doens't make money, doesn't get people ranting and raving about it, doesn't break records, doesn't get tons of people for affiliates, and doesn't cause people to want to buy similar domain names around your name... then your branding efforts won't go too far. But Rich Jerk was able to do all of this.

Really put yourself out there. Make people know your name! Here is an example of good branding:

Dre Baldwin Youtube - this guy has over 4,000 youtube vids, that is the definition of constantly putting yourself out there.

My recommendation for branding your business is the following:

For the name create one that represents exactly what your business is about so that people will recognize it right away.

For the logo the same, create a logo that when people see it they know about what your business is about.

For branding your business brand it by solving your markets problems.

Figure out what people are having trouble with and create or promote a product that solves their problems.

Care about people, traffic and leads are not going to magically going to buy from you, they are people who have expenses and bills to pay... is your product worth enough for them to spend their money?

Branding by giving value will create a big impact in your target market.

    Hope this helps,
