Perhaps you can read the related forums. Look at what they ask and answer.

Go into the market and be observant. Watch, listen, join in the conversations. Go to the forums, chat rooms, blogs of the important sites in the market, join newsletters in the market, read all you can by people with authority in the market. You will begin to understand what the issues are and where there are "gaps" in the market - holes that haven't yet been filled or that have been addressed with sub-standard solutions.

Here's a secret: you don't have to address the market's biggest problem. Just find a common problem and solve it in a better, or faster, or cheaper way. People will pay you for your excellent solution even though it may be one of dozens of products addressing exactly the same problem or need.

Out of curiosity, does anyone here have any advice on how to find the biggest burning problem your market is going through? Right now I am currently in the dating market.
Sounds like you've been reading alot of internet marketing books lol. I'm not teasing here because if you have been reading alot of internet marketing courses, then great! Build that knowledge. But understand that markets with NO competition rarely exist. So the solution you're looking for you can easily discover by viewing some of your competitor's sites and see what the "biggest burning problem* is.

With dating... most men can't approach and holla at a beautiful woman in broad daylight if their life depended on it. They fear rejection more than Ebola.

A person could start an entire blog based on this advice. If it's such a big issue, men will pay a lot to know how to do this one thing. After all, what is the use of relationship advice to keep a marriage strong, if a guy can't even say hello to the woman of his dreams?

go to forums in your niche, hunt, search, indulge, talk, and ask question.

If you hang out in a popular forum in your niche for a few weeks, you can become very very well educated, but more importantly get to learn about your prospect also.

Knowing their problem is only have the battle, if you get to know their core identity, your sales pitches, and copy, marketing gets, or becomes very very targeted, and sales come more easily.

Its the best way to get inside the head of your prospect. Become, them, feel them, be them. And once in their head, ask the same questions they do. Its a great excersise.

Doing this will also help with angles in your ads, and all the rest. You will find out things you never thought in niche forums. Its a hidden gold mine most marketers do not touch.

Personally I would join a number of leading forums in your given niche and get a feel for key burning subjects that are being discussed.

Then you can tailor your product offering to that particular trend.

I am going to spill the beans on a little secret. I personally use demographics to guide me in the right direction with all of my marketing. I use a service to get REAL good demographic information. you can however just type "Dating Demographics" into Google and start reading.

These studies will TELL YOU what the problems are that need to be answered. They will tell you WHO has the problem; if they are male or female, if they are 18 to 24 of 24 to 45 or 45 and older.

These studies will tell you HOW they access the given sites, and they will tell you the rate of conversion based on many number of factors.

Skip the BS and time wasting of going to this and that and the other forums and sites and blah blah blah... get the data right now.

One ninja way is to "steal" from your competitors. Look at the leaders in your market/niche. Look at their products and dissect their sales letters/videos/emails. What burning questions, problems, needs are they addressing? It's a pretty good bet those are your market's biggest problems. Verify with forums and demo data, but the top dogs in your market have already done the hard work for you.

There are several ways I do it with my marketing.

    1. I see on forums what people are having trouble with.
    2. I network with people and ask them why are they struggling.
    3. I just started using demographics mostly to create ads and what I did was that I looked to authority sites in my niche in Alexa - Actionable Analytics for the Web and saw what types of people were visiting them.

In the Alexa site you will be able to see the gender, education, country and even the location from where they visit the site for free. To see further stats you will have to pay.

My favorite strategy personally is ask my audience what are they having trouble with. It's time consuming but they will tell you about the exact problems they are facing.

    Good luck in your project
