More Trouble Posting To CL?

Anyone been having an increase in trouble getting posts to stay on CL lately?

I only do 10 ads a day. A month or two ago, 90% posted. Now I'm lucky to have 40% of them post.

They show 'active' in the account and then around the two hour mark, they are deleted.

The important thing is to read their terms of use carefully and take care to do nothing that fails to comply with them.

Otherwise not only does it produce this outcome, but it understandably causes hostility and resentment against internet marketers in general, and strengthens the poor reputation in which the public sometimes holds us.

Craigslist already hates marketers.....At least if they are in the mmo niche....

The only issue in the TOU that I may have 'violated' is the "nonlocal" portion. What do they consider nonlocal? I post within my state and a couple places outside of my state.

I'm not sure, but the last time I saw this discussed the general consensus seemed to be that it's on a "City" rather than on a "State" basis. Either way, I'd think "outside your state" probably isn't acceptable.

    10 ads per day!?!?!?!?!

As Alexa said, abide by their terms of service.

(This includes posting frequency, and posting location. Get these wrong, and they'll be MAD at ya!)

If they catch you doing anything they don't like...

They'll ghost your posts like Casper.

So, you think you'll be posting. But guess what? They're invisible.

CL: probably the hardest marketing ground online.

If you had a Delorean, you could power up to 88 MPH and return to a time when CL was, out of the free sources of traffic, perhaps the very best of the bunch. Unfortunately, BH marketers hammered it so furiously, posting 1,000 ads a day and more in some cases, that CL had to take action, and devote an entire department to making the lives of even WH marketers very difficult.

Is CL a waste of time? CL has pretty good traffic, though nothing like it used to have; people have been "hammered" and, unless you think out of the box, you're going to encounter resistance from them AND from CL. Question you have to ask yourself is: is my time better spent elsewhere? Now, that might seem like an easy question to answer, but to anyone who's found a high-income traffic supply in the past, and milked it to a point where even though it's reduced in size, you still remember the good old days, coming up with an answer is not so easy.

What I would honestly do in your position, adposter2, is pay someone to give you the goods, the info. (Not me; I'm not for hire.) When you get your traffic up to a satisfactory level, try to automate things or outsource, and use your time to develop a new traffic channel. CL won't last forever for you. Plan for the future.

    Thank you GRM.

I am a very small computer repair service business - and am registered in my state. I tried other avenues such as Backpage. Tried some of the other classifieds online and even paid for some ads.

Tried Facebook advertising and Google advertising. Absolutely zero response from these methods and is way too costly.

I did pay for one of the Craigslist WSOs on here just last week to get some information. Can't say that any of that helped me and maybe I am a bit more advanced in CL than I thought.

Seems apparent that I must be the one having the troubles with CL and it isn't widespread. I just figured that maybe there were some more changes here in the past month causing other posters problems too.

      Hey Buddy,

I'm going to reply to the part in bold first. The problem is very much widespread and has been for over half a decade. Seriously. The fact that you get 40% to stick is actually ahead of the game. So - first off: congratulations. You could probably have taught the WSO author a thing or two.

Right. I actually think you're in good shape. Sounds like you have a cracking offline business. Your trouble - obviously - is feeding the sucker with traffic. And if you're getting diminishing returns from CL, as I mention above, you should either figure a way to extend that traffic lifecycle and seek out other traffic avenues or continue as you are and do it.

I could probably write 50,000 words on how to help you, but given your time constraint and mine, I'll just offer what I hope is pretty sound advice. Head over to Google and begin researching how to promote a local business for free. Forget slow-traffic avenues like SEO for now. If you want to utilize WF or other forums, and I'm sure you already know this, but just in case, type this in for instance: site:warriorforum.com your keyword here. You'll begin to put together a great picture of how to get local leads. Finally - something maybe you won't see mentioned, is considering paying for leads. A lot of offline companies will actually invite affiliate marketers to push them online. I'm not sure of your margins or your setup, but maybe this is viable.

Hope some of that rambling helps, buddy.

Posting to craigslist does not have to be hard. If you follow their rules, you can have great success. If you put a few dollars into your craigslist advertising budget, your return should be better than other avenues.

I would have to agree that your time is the most valuable thing you have and you would probably be better off to find another source of traffic. This will probably work better plus you won't have to worry if they are actually being shown or not. Just do some searches on here and you can find ways to do it

I tried to upload a photo several times to CL and could not.

Craigslist is not very popular in my area though.

I have a serious love/hate relationship with them. I wanted to advertise 2 separate services. I had one successful ad running. None of these services were IM related. I posted the ads on separate days, and in the appropriate categories. Very benign stuff in my opinion.

Nothing crazy about the ads, no crazy claims, just specific information about my services. Gave them a local address for the map. No images, no links. Add number 2 never made it out of the gate. It was flagged/ghosted, or somehow trapped in their filter. After that happened, I had all kinds of problems with my first ad that had been running successfully. It started getting flagged/ghosted/filtered. All kinds of crap.

I don't know if they don't like you selling multiple things under the same email. I tried to do everything they asked of me. Verified a phone number. I'm going to be selling one of my cars next week, so I'll see what kind of hoops they take me through this time.

Use a software named arbitrage underdog. It will help. They sell it here on the WF. Just search for it.
