I suck at conversions and think I know why pls help

I have a site that I get traffic to. I have practically only traffic from Craigslist because I can't afford ppc for this niche.

I can check my traffic and I get lots of hits to the tour company that sells the tour product from my site.

Problem is someone advised me to set the traffic funnel up with

* a single page
* they click anything it brings them to a general page on the tour operator and then see like ten choices (I THING THIS IS AN ISSUE)
* EXAMPLE:
let's say I do scuba or boat tours. They want a specific tour but click on scuba and from my site go exit link are given the tour operator page. They have ten different scuba diving tours.

Same for boat tours. I can set up with direct links to each tour type though so they can do a specific type and NOT HAVE TEN CHOICES when they leave my page.

too long version. I think that not funneling leads to a tour operators specific product I'm giving them too many choices and they bail out before getting to the sales page they wanted.

Does this make sense?
I'm also thinking I need to provide some articles specific to my product. This person who sent me up said don't give choices but if they trust me and my site they are more prone to buy, right?

Any thoughts I'd appreciate it.

    Sounds like you need a more realistic traffic-generation plan, perhaps? There are lots of other potential ways of getting traffic, apart from SEO traffic and paid traffic. This thread may help/interest you: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ffic-tips.html

    Yes; I think so.

    It's true that sometimes giving people "too many choices" can result in reduced conversions, but I suspect that your traffic source at the moment is perhaps too limited to be drawing any "generalized conclusions".

    Yes - that sounds right to me. It's difficult to know without seeing your site, but it certainly seems from what you say that "having more content" might establish more credibility and help people to trust you?

    Are you trying to build a list for email marketing, by collecting the visitors' email addresses with an incentivized opt-in (might also help)?

      Alexa's nailed it on the head. On a side note might I advice to look into Pinterest for traffic generation....a couple of my clients had good luck with Pinterest in the travel niche. It's not going to get you a ton of leads everyday, but if you automate the pinning process, the traffic isn't bad...at least better thatn CL, IMO.

        Pinterest is so darn foreign to me. I feel like a luddite with it. It's like, how do I pin to somebody else's board yeah. I understand so much technical junk about Facebook and adwords and this just befuddles me but I'll have to see if I can learn.

      Thanks.
      There is no list, seeing as these are single use real life products and I need to create a sale I am focused on converting.

      The traffic is good. Not as in I get a lot, but it's targeted to what they want which is a tour that is provided by a tour operator. People aren't looking and clicking the links without some intent to buy. They may not be a 10/10 but it isn't like a meme site and they do not get there by accident, you know?

      I can do an Incentive though come think. I can thereby follow up the lead. Thanks for the good idea. I have an old file I can create Into a guide today.

        Sounds good.

        If it helps at all, post #7 of this thread makes suggestions for how you might do that (i.e. lists the "essential criteria" such an incentive needs to fulfil).

    You can set up all sorts of ads on pay per click targeting each niche that you are in.

    If this is what you are going to do, just make sure that you can collect name and emails of your visitors for follow up. That will also increase your conversions.

    i agree with both. do not throw your traffic away. let themoptin first and get that email before they leave without giving you anything
