Question about affiliate program hoplink

Let's say I'm a buyer and click on your affiliate hoplink, will the cookie be stored on my machine for a period of days/months?

and if I end up buying directly to the seller's website let's say 1 week after I click your hoplink, will it be considered as a sale for you evnethough I went directly to the seller's sales page?

"Hoplinks" are specific to ClickBank (that's just the term ClickBank uses to describe "affiliate links").

"If a customer clicks on a HopLink referral tracking URL you've posted and ends up buying the product within 60 days, you get credit for the sale and receive a commission". Source: https://support.clickbank.com/entrie...About-HopLinks

However, some anti-spyware software, when people run it, can erase hoplink cookies, so it's not completely reliable.

Yes - as long as the cookie hasn't been erased from the computer, and as long as you haven't acquired another affiliate's cookie during that week. At ClickBank - but not everywhere - the most recently acquired cookie is the one to whose affiliate account the commission is accredited.

Different affiliate networks have different rules, policies and cookie durations. Amazon cookies, for example, are good for only 24 hours - very different from ClickBank! Then again, they also reward the affiliate for anything else commissionable (and that's most things) which that same customer buys at Amazon within 24 hours, rather than just the specific item concerned. So, as you can see, you need to check each affiliate network individually, to find out "how these things work".

The answer to your question is yes in its simplest form. And here is where it gets a little more complicated. Firstly you will only get paid via an affiliate program if your site or link was the 1st to refer that person.

Secondly different affiliate programs offer differing lengths of cookie storage times.

For example some affiliates will pay out after four weeks of someone clicking on a link from your site whereas for others it may only be a few days.

Check the terms and conditions of each affiliate program you join to make sure that you are promoting affiliate that deliver payments within reasonable timescales.

      This is completely wrong.

As just explained a couple of posts above, with ClickBank (and with many other networks, too) it's exactly the opposite of what you say. It's the last (most recent) cookie to which the sale is accredited.

We know that you want to get your post and your signature-file on the board as often as possible, but sometimes it really does help to read the thread, before you post your reply: you might actually learn something.

I think you can now get 90 Day cookies from Amazon as an affiliate.

You can't exactly "get" them. It depends "what happens".

The way those work is that if someone (during the 24-hour duration of your original cookie) puts something into their basket but without actually buying and paying for it at that time, then this effectively creates a cookie which extends your commission-eligibility for another 89 days. If, during that time, they pay for it, then you still get paid. But only if it's gone into their basket during the original 24 hours. Commissions are paid out of the money that customers pay to Amazon, and that happens only when the product is shipped and paid for (so this can be very relevant for "out-of-stock" items, too).

Thanks guys for all the response.

This is my first time to promote a product as an affiliate and I've use Clicbank, I wonder if I'm doing it the right way.

I put the hoplink inside an image code.

    Here:

    <a href="http://3qe94bex14g36r9cj6oedtcz1r.hop.clickbank.net/"><img src="http://www.mywebsite.com/Images/images.png" border="0"></a>
That's not the real code by the way.

    Anyone?

    Thanks!
