Does Amazon AWS have easy Wordpress integration?

Hi,

When I hosted a site with HostGator, they had a 1-click Wordpress install so I could set up a blog. It was a piece of cake. Just wondering if Amazon AWS offers this same thing.

Thanks a lot

Amazon is not a standard "host" that provides things like a regular host would - they provide infrastructure that is easily scalable.

You would need to perform the steps similar to what's in this guide:

Tutorial: Hosting a WordPress Blog with Amazon EC2 - Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud

That said, you're probably better off just getting another shared hosting account. Even if you're able to get through that guide, install & set up Wordpress, you still have a server to manage yourself now..

Don't get me wrong -- I use and absolutely love AWS. When used right, it's scalable, stable, high performing and a good value. But it can also be complicated to set up and to administer. I have 15 years experience doing web development and DevOps, so for someone like me, AWS is perfect. But I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't experienced administering linux servers.

That said, there may be AWS resellers that may be able to get on onto the Amazon infrastructure without knowing so much about DevOps. In the Drupal world for instance, there's a company named Acquia; I'm not sure if there's a WordPress equivalent.

In addition to the tutorial linked to above, you can also find turnkey web appliances on the AWS marketplace such as this one: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B007IP8BKQ. But as Kingfish85 said, even if you get it running, you'd still be responsible for managing a server.
