Free way of possible heavy traffic.

I think I may have found a small and free way of getting heavy traffic to your site.

We've all heard that SocialNetworking is one of the best ways of gaining traffic and sales and whatnot, but I always had a hard time even TRYING to make friends.

Well, I found something out, and it's kind of a cheap way of doing it,

This works with both MySpace and Facebook
Install one of the game apps, such as Mafia, or Vampires. (I chose Vampires) Go to the game creator's (Zynga) site, and they have a forum where you can have people add you to add to your crew or clan. Before I started playing, I only had 6 friends.

Afterwards, I had 109 people add me in a VERY VERY short amount of time. The most crew/clan you can have in the games is 501, but if you're playing multiple games, preferrably by Zynga, all you have to do is post on their forums that you want an add for the specific game, and people will unwillingly add you.

The reason this is so great is because you can get a LARGE audience in a matter of a few hours. Afterwards, all you need to do is post a blog or a bulletin. You can even edit your profile and throw in some links and useful information to really catch the audience.

Before I shut my site down, I was actually getting a REALLY decent amount of traffic just from MySpace.

Best part about this, is that once they add you to their friends list, the only thing you need to do is add them in the game. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME!

Just simply add them in your friend's list, then add them to your clan and/ore crew, and advertise!

Surely this would only make sense if you were in the gaming niche?

Why would anyone who barely knows you and only added you via a game plugin be someone you want on your list? (unless you're selling games)

I find it's much more effective to go after the people you're trying to help rather than just do anything you can to get any untargeted traffic in the hope that you can convert them with something.

If the traffic was so good and monetisable - why did you shut your site down?

All sorts of people play the games on MySpace and Facebook, and they HAVE to add you in order to become part of your crew/clan.

This is a good way, because as I said, I went from 6 friends to 115 just in a few hours. After advertising my site, I actually was getting a high amount of traffic per day from mostly MySpace and Facebook.

This wouldn't be spam because EVERYBODY on MySpace and Facebook make bulletins and post blogs every single day, sometimes even multiple times throughout the day, so it's no different than just telling people something cool.

This can be more than just a certain genre. Just because you're playing a game doesn't mean you have to advertise for a gaming site. Like me, I'm trying to start a hosting company, and if anybody on my list would like hosting, they could see my blog and/or bulletin and sign up.

I shut my own site down because a lack of resources and motivation.

Did you shut it down or did you get shut down?

I did this a couple of years ago then went to login one day and I no longer had an account.

Can not say for sure if that was the reason why but I made the friends without game apps, join the groups and get involved before you start posting links.

These people get thousands of bulletins every day including add trains to build up so called friends if your going to use myspace one of the best ways is in the comment you can make on other people's pages not all allow html but most do and it will let you know before you post

You can also do this on your iphone, the same games are there as well.

Once you have enough followers you can broadcast your websites
    everyday/hour/minute.

How is that different to spam? Surely these people did not intend to receive promotions from you and they'll get just annoyed and stop receiving them?

Maybe I'm missing something but this just seems like a very untargeted waste of time trying to get random traffic which will be difficult to convert since they completely unrelated to what you're offering and aren't expecting to get promotional messages.

Even if this did work I don't think I would do it personally, but I can't imagine it's very effective compared to targeted promotional actitivies.

I personally feel that fb and myspace are a complete waste of time for promotion... unless you hav a large group with lots of followers

... or you could publish great content and participate in your niche to build a REAL audience.
