Also, from my personal experience, the, "Are the more
expensive ones better or no?" ... question might not
always apply.

Though Hostgator tries its hardest to cater to both the
'little guys' and the 'bigger guys', all at the same time, it
does not necessarily mean that the product they offer is
any less in quality.

So, if you decide to go with Hostgator, you can do so
with a peaceful mind.

I also use hostgator because they have cheap plans for unlimited hosting..

Also, they have pretty awesome customer service where you usually don't have to wait to talk to on the phone!

It is indeed.

Threads on this subject are inevtiably full of posts from people who don't know which hosting companies EIG has taken over and ruined, Kage. And posts from some people just spamming affiliate codes/coupons, like the one you replied to. Best just to take no notice of them at all.

There's better and more helpful information (and some links) above, too. Artgirl's posts, in particular, are worth reading.

You got to take a look at companies offering specialized wordpress package . below are some of the companies I have tried and really happy with performance are :

I use both Hostgator and GoDaddy. GoDaddy is a little more expensive but I have never had any downtime. HG did go down a few times over the past year so it depends on how critical it is for your sites to be up all the time.

For me, my critical sites are on Go Daddy and the others are on HG.

They both have instant installs for WordPress and GD also has a quick start plugin that automatically installed with the Wordpress install.
