Best for that ought to be HostGator. They have got an instant WordPress installation available which takes literally 5 minutres to set up. Also, Hostgator offers hosting plans starting from as little as $9 a month! for unlimited websites to host. If you use certain coupons, you will receive the first month FREE. An example would be discount95 , which is not my coupon but one I used myself from another website.

    Hope it helped.

      Hi Dgaubatz,

      Do check out Hostgator.

I have been with them for years, and they are one of the best,
when it comes to customer's service.

And the prices, the prices, the prices, are some of the best,
      with all that they offer.

And yes, they do offer the WordPress facility. And they
seem to be always doing something (in the form of an
upgrade) to/with their system, in order to stay current.

Take a look at Svensonia post. That post is right-on-
      the-money.

Also, from my personal experience, the, "Are the more
expensive ones better or no?" ... question might not
      always apply.

Though Hostgator tries its hardest to cater to both the
'little guys' and the 'bigger guys', all at the same time, it
does not necessarily mean that the product they offer is
      any less in quality.

So, if you decide to go with Hostgator, you can do so
      with a peaceful mind.

      Best of luck, Dgaubatz

      And, cheers.

I also use hostgator because they have cheap plans for unlimited hosting..

Also, they have pretty awesome customer service where you usually don't have to wait to talk to on the phone!

        It is indeed.

Threads on this subject are inevtiably full of posts from people who don't know which hosting companies EIG has taken over and ruined, Kage. And posts from some people just spamming affiliate codes/coupons, like the one you replied to. Best just to take no notice of them at all.

There's better and more helpful information (and some links) above, too. Artgirl's posts, in particular, are worth reading.

I use both Hostgator and GoDaddy. GoDaddy is a little more expensive but I have never had any downtime. HG did go down a few times over the past year so it depends on how critical it is for your sites to be up all the time.

For me, my critical sites are on Go Daddy and the others are on HG.

They both have instant installs for WordPress and GD also has a quick start plugin that automatically installed with the Wordpress install.

      Hope that helps

    I have three recommendations ...

    1. Avoid GoDaddy

    2. Avoid 1and1

    3. Avoid any hosting company owned by the dreaded Endurance International Group, whose business model seems to be to take over countless previously decent hosting companies and gradually (but very consistently!) turn them into customer service disasters. That includes Hostgator, which is already becoming a customer service disaster that large numbers of Warriors are now leaving, and the forum's full of threads in which we explain why.

These two will both help you to choose an appropriate host, if you read them carefully enough ...

What type of web hosting do you use?

I live in the US and though not sold on anything i think i'm leaning more toward Arvixe right now.

That site you gave me (DigitalFAQ) is pretty good. I seen on the side DigitalFAQ has something on avoiding use of VPS.

I'm no expert on this subject. I've just been here for a long time and know a lot of people, and have seen countless Warriors (including some I know to be "hosting experts") cursing GoDaddy and 1and1 (neither of which is a company with which I'd do business anyway, myself), and the EIG debacle/saga is no secret at all.

I actually host in 5 different places, including Hostgator which I'm very soon leaving. (They used to be very good, until a while ago).

Where do your visitors/customers live, though? This is more relevant. And do you want to rank as well as possible on google.com searches? (I don't care, myself, but I know that matters to plenty of people.) It probably wouldn't be optimal for you to host in the UK unless it's for a UK-specific niche, with a .uk domain-name, and you want to rank better on google.co.uk specifically.

Download speeds and server location in its own right are both somewhat relevant to rankings.

My understanding is that they're a good and reliable company - all second-hand information: I don't use them. They're not suitable for me: I habitually need technical support from hosting companies because I screw technical things up a lot, and "support" isn't Arvixe's forte, and they don't even pretend it is. I think they're probably ideal for people who want a combination of high reliability and low prices without being dependent on technical support. That's not me. I need high reliabilty and outstanding technical support but I don't mind paying much higher prices for that combination. If I used WordPress sites (which I don't), I would unhesitatingly use "WordPressEngine", myself (but they're very expensive).

It always depends on your own needs and circumstances, really.

I've also heard good things (from people I know and trust), and nothing bad at all, about a company called Liquid Web.

My limited knowledge of this subject is now exhausted.

          Please read the following folks.

          I agree with Alexa 100%

I've been online for many years and I have TONS of websites in over 35 niches. I have experience with many web hosting companies. I also have recently conversed with some of the top marketers relating to this topic.

          My top 5 providers are:

          - Liquid Web (recommended by Kim Roach and other top marketers)
          - NameCheap (yes, NameCheap has great web hosting and support)
          - Site5
          - CrocWeb
          - DreamHost

The following advice is based on my true experiences and info from top experts:

          1. Repeating what Alexa stated, stay away from any web hosting company under the umbrella of the Endurance International Group (EIG). You can find the entire list at:

Endurance International Group - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This includes HostGator, BlueHost, FatCow, HostNine, SEO Hosting, and many more!

          2. Stay far far FAR away from Arvixe. I can write a book about their slow servers continually going down and their customer service. You have been warned!

          3. Stay away from GoDaddy. Enough said!

          4. Run..not walk from 1and1. You will thank me later.

Just stick with the Top 5 and you will rest peacefully tonight as you make money!

            - CrocWeb
            - DreamHost

I examined Site5 and CrocWeb but there were too many upset customers on web hosting talk for each.

            DreamHost = EIG

Liquid Web ok if you have that kind of money

leaves name cheap I guess. Mixed reviews.

I don't think there is such a thing as a good web host anymore.

Just one that hasn't created your specific disaster YET.

@Artgirl - May I ask when you was hosting with us? The majority of our clients are satisfied an don't experience such issues though if this was not the case for you I apologize. If you provide me with your billing username or a ticket ID I can look into this for you.

I can say we have some of the most powerful servers in this industry at this price point coupled with huge investments into our customer service departments (24/7 QA dept, accessible management, liaisons for each software, free script installations etc).

I've made a research on webhosting a year ago for entry-level bloggers and it proved to be very true.

My short recommending list is this:
      - EuroVPS
      - MDD Hosting
      - Arvixe (edited: acquired by EIG on October 31, 2014)
      - CrocWeb
      - StableHost
      - HawkHost
      - FrogHost

And yes, avoid EIG hosting. Some of them were great some time ago (e.g. HostGator), but after being bought by EIG, it went downhill, which is expected for any EIG hosting.

I personally use a WiredTree VPS. I like the flexibility that I can upgrade the VPS resources if I am ever sending too much traffic through my sites.

On top of that, the WiredTree support is amazing since they are managed VPS. They will handle any server tasks that you need.

Based on recommendations, SSD availability, pre-sales support and all-around value - we are going to give Liquidweb a try. Going with the semi-dedicated to start, and we can easily move up from here when needed with their migration support. Guaranteed response times for support etc - and at $40 - no higher than a couple of the rotten companies we've been with in the past.

    I'll report back!

ARRGGGHHH!!!! ok - based on the recommendations of several people....I went with LiquidWeb. I obviously have not been there long enough to have anything to say about their reliability etc BUT...this has to be the most grueling set-up process I have ever been through.

Everything has to to go through their support team - the CPanel is a very basic version - and no WHM available, so all of our sites are managed through a single shared CPanel.

All domains have to be added by support, and although they advertise guaranteed support response times, that apparently simply means someone sending you an email that says they will get to your case shortly. I submitted 4 tickets this am for 4 new TLDs to be added at 8am, and they were set up by 1:30.
With WHM - I would have been set-up and had the sites moved over from the old host, inside of an hour.

Now I need a CNAME set-up....and yes, not able to do it myself - have to submit a ticket...this is so not going to work out.....

Now I need a CNAME set-up....and yes, not able to do it myself - have to submit a ticket...this is so not going to work out.....
If you have many domains, use Reseller. I never shared domains in same hosting, totally messed up if something wrong with that main domain.

I would address this by knowing your budget and technical affinity.

      1. Cheap hosts like JustHost, BlueHost are ok to get started - easily, and quickly. I have heard good things about MDDHosting recently.

      2. If you can, use VPS from DigitalOcean or similar. This can give you a nice ability to scale, and you will be happy with a really fast WP site. More expensive VPS (e.g. from BlueHost ) can work too

      3. WPEngine, or other managed wordpress hosting sites can work if you have the money and do not want to worry about site maintenance

i have a mix between hostgator and self payed support throu odesk...i just hired some freelancer to help me setting up all of my things so i do not depend on hostgator support which is...hm...i would say: S L O W.....

this mix is extra fast, cost effective and straight to the point, if you can not setup something or you stuck setting up some "SSL" files...

also you pay for support on demand, that cuts the cost of more expensive monthly hosting plans that have premium support...

I'd recommend you to use hosting services from a2hosting.com and venetx.com.
Both are respectable and stable in delivering quality hosting services with quality tech staff and their prices are rock-bottom.

I have only used HostGator and BlueHost, both are OK, have never encountered any problems with them. Of course, it doesn't mean others are not ok as well
