with peices so low for computers why have only one..

it's a laptop..ca you go to a cofee shop with wifi ..and get as much work done as if you where home .

get some high ram laptop with ssd

It is better to get a more expensive laptop if you really want to run an online business. It should have an 8 GB ram and harddisk of 500GB.

This is actually a really good question, and it got me thinking, "do I need a specific type of laptop?" Lol

But in reality, you don't need anything specific.

I used an iPad for a lot of my work simply because it's so easy to bring around. And if I can do a lot of work with it, then anybody can using any device that gets you FAST access to the Internet right away.

HP 9470w with 1.9GHz CPU , 16 GB RAM and 180 GB SSD . I is very fast, light and thin !

A new laptop is always good because the speed is fast.

I don't think it matter which one you really buy. The most important thing is that you know how to effectively build a business online.

I use a Macbook Pro. Get something that performs well and is up to date with the times. There is nothing worse than working on an old slow computer that keeps freezing and is not up to date. You don't need the fanciest thing either, you just need something that works well and can handle business tasks and whatever else you enjoy doing online, the type of computer you have does not determine how successful you will be in business.

It doesn't matter what laptop, tablet or smartphone you use for Internet marketing purposes. However if you are using a laptop and make sure that you install Google chrome with SEO Quake

If you are very busy and want like to take your lap top everywhere you go, you may want to consider Google Chromebook, which uses ChromeOS and integrates tightly with Google Apps. Many business owners are trading Microsoft Office for Google Apps to cut costs -- and when they do, a Chromebook is exactly what they need. Additionally, most business apps (FreshBooks, email marketing, etc.) are already Web-based, so they can already be accessed from anywhere.

I've been running a 17" Mac Book Pro with 8 GB Ram and 500 GB Harddrive for over 4 years now and have no intentions of gettng a new laptop anytime soon.

Get something that will last.

Although you can probably find something in your price range that is NEW as opposed to getting one used off of Craigslist.

It is not very important, which Laptop you are using. You can do the Internet marketing by any laptop. but it is important, which experience do you have, in which niche you are expert.

If you're not a tech guy and you're thinking of outsourcing - you don't need something special(only good internet connection)...

for example: I'm using 'camtasia','photoshop' and 'cinema 4d' - for me it's all about high RAM and good video processor...

Sounds like you need something with decent memory and a large hdd. Try a resaler like Dell and stick to those two. Turn down options for bigger screen sizes, faster processors, graphics doodads and so on if you want to spend as little as possible.

You don't need much processing power for what you want to do.

Desktops.....

Your requirements can actually be met with a ten year old Pentium 4 HT around 2.5ghz and 2 gigs of RAM running XP. You won't be able to play YouTube videos in 1020 HD though. You should be able to pick one of these up very cheap if not free. You may have to do a RAM upgrade since 2 gigs wasn't common for the period. I wouldn't recommend this though. I'm just illustrating that a quad core with 16gigs of RAM isn't necessary. This ten year old setup actually will get the job done if you're in a pinch.

If you want something more than the bare minimum yet still affordable, Intel's Core 2 Duo 3ghz and 2 to 4 gigs of RAM will not let you down. XP, 7 and any major Linux distro will work fine for what you want. I don't have 8/8.1 to test on it, but I assume it would run fine. Had a Geforce 9800 on it and test downgraded to a 7600 with no noticeable difference (obviously I wasn't playing games).


Laptops.....

Similar to above. Even early dual core tech will be fine. I have a dual core 1.7ghz with 2gigs RAM that does what I need.

I personally dislike working on laptops unless it's a necessity (it's nice to work outside on a warm summer evening). The screens are just too small. I run a 30" desktop with a second 17" that I wouldn't mind upgrading to something larger or even adding a triple monitor graphics card.

To be honest, most laptops that can run and connect to the internet will be fine for most people. Of course, every second you save by having a faster laptop is another second you can spend on your work, but it's not incredibly noticeable.

If you are planning on getting a new computer anyway, get one with a solid state drive. This will allow the computer to boot up and wake from sleep very quickly.

If you decide to get a desktop (usually more bang for your buck, at the expense of portability), opt for one with two hard drives. This will allow you to RAID 1 the drives which will essentially back up all of your files in the event that one of the drives fails. Of course, you should be backing up files on other drives anyway.

I personally do most of my work in my home office on my desktop. I have a MacBook Pro that I use when I need to write on the go, and a much bulkier ASUS powerstation that I use when I know I'll need to render video or something equivalent.

I wouldn't buy a cheap laptop as there is a reason it is cheap. Save up longer if you need to because a crummy computer will only lead to frustration. Been there, done that. When you start making some sales you can upgrade from Windows to a Mac and your computing problems will be solved.

The best thing you can get for your laptop if you want to be able to work on your IM business as smoothly and speedily as possible is an SSD. An SSD makes start up and loading up programs so much faster than old hard drives that there is no way you will go back!

I don't really think there is a huge different. IMO most of internet marketing does not involve high CPU/Memory requirements. The only exception might be if you're into image or video editing. I do agree with getting an SSD drive, they are well worth it.

If you're a writer, you will only need a laptop that can run a word processing based program such as Open Office. Then later, you can deliver your document to your client via email.

If you are freelancing at graphics, then you might need a much better computer that is capable of running Photoshop and other high end graphics programs.

The best laptop for IM is the one that gets opened every day and used to get work done.

Buy something that lets you do your job, make loads of money, and worry about having the best, most perfect, ultra super duper all time awesomeness laptop later.

Get a Microsoft Surface 3. They are a bit more expensive but they are awesome...

If not try to get something with an i5 to i7 processor and 4GB - 8GB ram - that will last you a good while. No need for a GPU, the on board one will be fine for IM.

If you have a budget then it is really a matter of shopping to get the most you can for your budget. Folks have given good specs on what to look for so now it is a matter of if you can find those specs in your price range.

I don't think that any type of specific computer has anything to do with IM. Any computer should work these days..

I Have a Acer V3-731-4439 Professionally Tuned Laptop (Never Thought Acer Would Be In My Arsenal Ever). Wider Screen and Keyboard Space which really comes in handy typing and etc. Whichever you go for make sure you have enough space to type,decent hard drive space,a nice speedy processor and WiFi capability. That's all you need really

In today's market, you can get a laptop that does all you need for $280 (the exact price I bought mine for on Amazon.com). It can film videos, run higher-end software and so on.

The only reason to go for a higher-end system is if you plan on doing a heavy amount of video encoding, or are running something like photoshop with large image files. There are some other edge cases for higher-end software, but if you don't already know you need a better PC for that kind of software, you probably aren't using any such software ... and so are fine with a low-cost solution.

I'm a big fan of Dell - mostly cause i used to work and dissect with them. Honestly i have 3 laptops. The one that i do my internet marketing on is an old, ugly D610 Dell Laptop. Speed is good though and no kinds of viruses or malware or spyware. HP is pretty good too... just try your best to stay off those *dirty* sites. They'll ruin your machine (and files probably) immediately.
