Best way for quality traffic?

Hi there fellow Warriors,

I posted this in the ppc forum but got no response (prob not many viewing there) so I'm posting here as there is more visibility.

2 questions:

What sends better quality traffic: PPC to landing page or SEO to website?

And should I be selling right from the landing page and website or should i have them subscribe first and then send a few value enriched emails and soft sell them?

The niche is relationships

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Its very circumstantial and varies greatly on a number of factors. It all depends on the keywords targeted and how relevant they are to your niche. For example if your niche is dog food and you rank for dog food related keywords then the traffic would be quality and relevant for your niche. Where as if you setup a ppc and targeted webpage design, than the traffic would not be very relevant at all in turn lowering the quality. So it really all depends on the keywords you target for PPC or SEO and how relevant they are to your niche.

Thanks Steven. So if I do target with right keywords on Adwords or right audience on FB can i get good quality traffic that I can convert into sales via email marketing?

Your niche is relationships, you said. I guess it is dating site? If yes, that would be very competitive niche. To target traffic with PPC you need to follow your budget, ads and responses. Otherwise it will be waste of your money. As you are spending money for each visitor, you certainly can get them subscribed into your list.

SEO traffic is very untargeted but free. You can direct these people to your subscription form with a freebie or a discount offer.

  • Traffic comes from everywhere and leads and sales is byproduct of target traffic.

You need to have best of both worlds and SEO traffic complemented with PPC, PPV, Banners or any other paid ways.

Seo and other free traffic is Yin and Paid traffic is the yang.

If you want your brand in relationship niche to dominate then you must do both.

This is basics of marketing list building.

exactly, you need to diversify your traffic source, but still seo is the best traffic source you can get to your site/blog/video , a targeted visitor is potential buyer/follower and a long time user for your site

Both PPC and SEO have the potential to send the same level of high-quality traffic. You will find, though, that PPC marketers generate the most leads. The main reason is the ready supply of PPC traffic. SEO takes time, whereas with PPC, you can throw some money at it and get instant traffic.

The quality of the traffic is determined by how you manage the flow.

    - What do you say before they click your link?
    - What do you do after they click your link?

Different products and different markets require different approaches.

    Hi,

One way you could look at it is that building a targeted list of subscribers
first and foremost is the most solid option in my opinion.

You see you could always send those subscribers (you've built from a landing
page) to your website/blog etc after they have joined your lists.

To build up relationships with them.

Share useful content with them etc.

As in terms of the quality?

That is something you can try and improve through both the traffic
sources you use and your SET UP (funnel) through testing.

    Here's the thing......

.....If you have the time and the budget to focus on SEO and paid
    traffic then do both.

You could even create 2 different lists for each source of traffic and see
which ones give you the best response in terms of open and click rates/sales
etc from the emails you send out to them.

For me I would rather build a list first through paid traffic sources (much faster)
and also with a side bar opt in form on my blog.

That way you're at least covering both angles whilst your business takes shape.

I always start by talking directly with real people about my site. If I can't get real people interested, the SEO and PPC won't matter. Often emailing, calling, or handing a flyer to a real person has a great ROI than efforts made on SEO or money spent on PPC.

In my experience (and I've only done PPC advertising in two different niches), "PPC to landing-page" traffic has far more monetary value-per-visitor to me than "SEO to website" traffic.

I'm an affiliate marketer, myself, and I always suggest to others that they shouldn't put time and effort into trying to attract SEO traffic, for two main reasons: first, it's very precarious and makes your business Google-dependent, and any business that's Google-dependent is no more than one algorithm-change away from a potential accident (or even a potential disaster), as so many Warriors have been finding out over the last year or two, some of them to their very great cost; secondly, for me, search engine traffic, in every single one of my niches, has been uniformly the worst-converting traffic out of everything I've ever tried - search engine visitors to all my websites typically stay the least time, view the fewest pages, opt in the least often and actually buy anything by far the least often. I admit I do get tons of search engine traffic to all my main sites (because high rankings for multiple keywords happen to be a minor side-benefit of the main targeted traffic-generation method I use) but I'd hate to have to make a living just from that traffic. If you have a good look round the forum, you'll also see plenty of other Warriors making exactly this point.

I would always have them subscribe first (the ones who will, that is).

Here's the thing: to earn significant money from affiliate marketing, you need to do three things ...

    (i) Keep your potential customers returning to the sales page (because not so many people buy anthing much at their first visit to a sales page!);

    (ii) Make increasing sales (ideally at progressively higher prices) to the same "captive audience" who regularly rely on and trust your recommendations;

(iii) Establish the credibility and trust necessary to do both the above by earning's people respect as a provider of niche-related information.

Without building lists, of course, you can't do any of the three and you'd just be throwing away almost all the traffic you ever generate that doesn't buy anything immediately.

It's like trying to run the bath by opening the taps fully but not bothering to put the plug in the hole first to retain the water: you just lose almost everything.

For most people, most of the time, I think it's just about as simple as that, overall.

These three threads are more informative ...

Is it a good idea to spend some time on building a mailing list ?

both ppc and seo if they target good keywords. if your keywords are untargeted then you won't be able
to make money , being ppc or seo. keywords matter.. BUT. SEO usually works a little better than PPC cause people rely on google blindly so your website "HAS TO BE GOOD" in their eyes since google recommends it.

Also if you're investing money for PPC use it on a squeeze page and build a list.

This way you spend money once but get the traffic back x10 or more. If you spend money for ppc using a link without a squeeze page then you're spending money cause the viewer might close the window, forget about the websit (even if they like it) and may never get back, so money = NOT well spent.

    Cheers

  • Hi PriyaN,

So that is a good question and I think the answer depends on what you're looking to accomplish with that traffic.

As you know SEO is a game that takes time to develop - however once it picks up and starts sending you quality traffic, all you'll need to do is send that traffic to your money site - and money offer. Using affiliate websites work great for SEO because it's traffic thats coming with an interest in buying and learning more about a certain product. So if you have 1 - 3 months to wait and invest then SEO will be a good option for you.

Now if you're looking for some instant gratification - like most people are - then using PPC will be a better option for you. Make sure that you have the right keywords selected that are geared towards your targeted prospect. It won't serve you any justice to just fire up a campaign with no research put into finding what your target market is clicking and typing in online.

So think about what you are promoting, or selling, and these answers should give you some better direction to move in.

    All the best

In my experience, you want a blend of PPC to your various landing pages and SEO to your website. In my experience PPC is an excellent drivers of landing page traffic if you buy from the right sellers.

I believe a mixture of both is best. With PPC you would get qualified leads but the conversion can be less. With SEO there is more information, so you will get traffic, but it might not convert well to qualified leads. A mixture of the two will probably lead the best results.

In terms of quality traffic, I'd say SEO is the highest form of traffic.

That being said, it doesn't mean they are the highest converting form of traffic.

Regardless of which one you choose "Capture their Information" even if they aren't highly targeted traffic. For what ever reason they are interested in what you have and etc so having them on your list could end up being a good idea in the long run even if what you have right now doesn't fit them to a T. There is nothing like owning a list to be able to use whenever you needed to especially if you will be paying for the traffic.

Above all else add Value to whatever you do and not just sell what you have. People join People not Businesses or Products

Both traffic model are efficient but PPC is strongly going to be
based on the site you are getting the traffic from.

Another thing is, how well your website converts that traffic.
You also need a good landing page for it to convert that traffic
otherwise that quality traffic is still going to suck.

To answer your first question, you should do a mix of both and test to see which converts the best...

Secondly, never sell on your landing page... lead them to your funnel with a freebie. If you want to make money on your spend back then introduce people to a $7 product as soon as they are introduced to your funnel and as you warm them up to you through email marketing then start to sell mid and high ticket products

Well, they both can work the same. PPC is good for testing headlines and stepping infront of existing traffic a lot easier than trying to create the traffic out of thin air. Follow? SEO is good and some of the most powerful-est but takes time and you can't really guarantee your results.

As with establishing any good traffic the key is to optimize your campaign for your traffic source and test.

You could use PPC to test the headline and body for a good click through rate and then take that and create a banner campaign and slap your banner on a few different websites and step in front of different traffic sources. This is one of my most favorite ways. Create a couple of different banners with slight adjustments and split test your campaigns. You'll be amazed at how one little tweak and result in either clicks or not clicks.

There are tons way of ways to generate quality traffic.

What matters most is how you monetize that traffic and convert it.

Always have a landing page and a quality give away to collect emails.

Then if you go the paid route always test out everything first prior to scaling (solo ads/banners/ppc).

If you use free marketing methods such as video marketing , forum, blogging consistency is key.

Nothing beats organic traffic in terms of quality. The reason why organic traffic is way better is for the following reasons: 1.) It's highly targeted 2.) It's traffic that are captured because people were looking for something that you had to offer 3.) People see exactly what they want to at that exact moment 4.) People are usually ready and willing to pay for the solution 4.)It's long term and continuous unlike with paid ads. When you stop, traffic stops along with it.

Content creation is awesome and is capable of amazing things. There's absolutely nothing wrong with paid traffic. I do both and I highly recommend you do both as well because paid ads create instant results while content creation works on your long term results and when the two are combined and the efforts start to pay off, the return and rewards are amazing.

Don't limit yourself. If you can afford to do paid ads, do it, but don't disregard content creation.

PPC and SEO should both be implemented to gain the most targeted and quality traffic to your site. SEO is the superior as if you rank high for a targeted keyword on Google, you will get a huge amount of traffic on autopilot from searches. The problem is SEO takes a very long time to establish, with PPC you can convert high quality traffic to your site at a fast pace, although the traffic is only gonna come through as long as your paying.
