Do Traffic Exchange Sites work in 2014

Hi All,

Just wondering whether traffic exchange sites work for generating traffic in 2014 and can you use them for free for effect or do you really need to be outlaying money and paying for traffic.

In one word: no. You have to produce content and spend money on advertising. Network, network, and network too.

Are those your only two alternatives, Peter?

How about a dozen other, different traffic-generation methods which don't involve traffic exchanges, but also don't involve paying anything? Like some of the many discussed here? http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ffic-tips.html

Yes; they do: I know some marketers doing very well with traffic exchanges, in 2014 (and I'm not talking about traffic exchange owners, either ).

Traffic exchanges can be very good for people who are intending to use them to build an opted-in email list of traffic exchange users with the intention of subsequently promoting something targeted specifically at traffic exchange users.

Everyone using traffic exchanges has the same goal -- to get traffic. That can make their users an absolutely ideal, perfectly targeted audience if you're building a list by giving away a free e-book called "3 Ways To Get Traffic That You've Never Heard Of" and then using the list to promote the product you're selling, which is called "And 5 Even More Brilliant Ways To Get Traffic That Nobody Else Has Ever Heard Of Either". Traffic exchanges can be a goldmine for that kind of business.

In all the threads here about TE's, hundreds of people comment that they're "useless" and "untargeted traffic". At the same time, some people are making five-figure monthly incomes from that traffic. That's because the first group of people have tried to use traffic exchange traffic for a purpose other than the one stated in the paragraph above. That doesn't work, of course. Typically, they call it "untargeted", not quite having worked out that the problem was that what they were doing wasn't specifically targeted at that traffic.

Like so many other issues in internet marketing, it's all about relevance (targeting).

If you're a violin-seller, there's not much point in setting up a stall in a fish-market and then complaining that the traffic there is "untargeted". Some people instinctively see this straight away. Others, it seems (including many who regularly post disparaging comments here in many "traffic exchange threads") haven't quite worked that out.

Hi fellow Aussie, I would not recommend traffic exchanges to drive traffic to paying offers. In my experience it has not produced "buyer" traffic.

I have only found a few that actually have real traffic too. Most of them are bots and the like so not much use really.

However, I have made some money using these exchanges using a different model. No its not going to make you rich but it is decent money for the time it takes. Of course that depends on how much value you put on your time and what your focus is. Personally I don't do this much anymore as there are many other ways I am cultivating now to produce better results for the time output.

Its a pretty simple model that I use and I would be happy to provide some affordable courses or coaching on this if you wish. PM me if you are interested.
      Hope that helps.

Would this mainly be for IM Products that it would work ?. ie If I wanted to drive traffic to a business that sells sports goods online would it be a complete waste of energy, time and possibly money ?

You'll get not a single subscriber! Like Alexa has already stated it would be like try to sell violins at a fish market.

Like everything else in marketing, it can work when the offer matches the market.

If you use a traffic exchange, your market is "people who want traffic", isn't it?

So it works if you're building a list to promote something specifically designed for "people who want traffic". It's as simple as that. You need to be building a list to promote something to people with websites, because those are the people who want traffic.

      Yes.

People who need to buy sports good online are not people who want traffic. That would be selling violins in a fish-market. There's no match between the offer and the market.

"Internet marketing" is marketing: there's no point in trying to sell musical instruments to people who are there to buy fish, and there's no point in trying to sell sports goods to people who want website traffic. Surely this can't be a huge surprise??
