Depends, i did when i started and so did many others but i'm sure there are also a lot of people who are successful and self taught...
You could spend a lot of cash on self proclaimed "mentors" and "gurus" and end up broke and none the wiser.
Just be very careful, the internet and MMO is chock full of scammers and cheats.
ALWAYS do your due diligence...

Answers to your questions:
1) As long as you can until you make it work a little then learn how to repeat that small success and scale it bigger by more time and money investment.

2) landing, blog, squeeze or sales pages are all strategies that needs to be implemented and properly placed as a working system like a well tuned machine. Making it is easy its the split testing, tweaking and copyrighting is where it gets more complicatedly fun

3) Traffic comes from everywhere and your brand should be there too. But it should be always targeted so you dont waste effort and money. You should focus on organic traffic to complement the "steroid" called paid ads and only put in small investment first to try out the squeezepage and the paid traffic source. You will need to keep tweaking until you are actually getting good conversions and sales. Once you see a positive conversion, then its time to reinvest 70% of that earning and reinvest in the same tactic.

4) solo ads is paying another marketer who focuses list building and they send your squeeze page link as an email broadcast to their email list to promote. When you get 1 click it is about .40 to over 1$ that you will agree to pay for promoting your link. Make sure you see testimonials of these sellers first before buying clicks.

5) systems is like a gun. You can protect yourself and your family but to an ignorant person or an innocent child it can be a tragedy. Systems can help a new person out but there are NO systems that will make you money overnight! Period! Its all hard work and persistence and learning how to leverage these systems to work for your business brand success.

Understanding the system is a learning curve, but shouldn't be too difficult if you take things one step at a time.

It can take hours, or it can take years, or it can never happen. If you educate yourself and work hard, then you should be able to develop a strong, lucrative, enjoyable online business within a few months.

It is indeed. You can get free Wordpress themes or paid premium themes (anywhere from $5 to $60) and Wordpress is so very user-friendly these days. Your host will likely have cPanel. So it's a case of click and button and you have a blog. Then just install your theme, add a logo, and you're good to go. More to it than that, but there doesn't have to be.

Forget paid traffic. You can learn to send high volumes of free traffic. This is best when you're starting out. But, to answer your question: you can get lucky and spend 20 bucks, or you can spend 200 bucks or more. Paid traffic is a science and an art, really, and it does require you to burn through a lot of cash in order to learn both.

Solo Ads is a means of you getting exposure to targeted subscribers on email lists. Success varies. Again: spending money is the only way to find out because there are so many variables.

It helps, yes, because then you have every single step of a working system laid out for you. But it isn't necessary if you're short of cash. You can learn a lot from reading Warrior Forum and industry blogs.

1: That depends on a number of factors such as your the method that you choose, how much you invest into making it work and finally how effective you are with putting what you learnt into action. To give a rough idea of what happened to me. I earn my first $100 after my second week of taking action on what I learnt. A lot of commitment and dedication was needed to make this happen as well as having the ability to plan your work load so you never lose focus and always remain productive.

2 Again it depends on what method you decide to choose. If you have skills in making website then I would recommend this as you can use it to build a brand and a strong following. To ve successful you will need to budget $25 or less.

3 Very rare do I pay for paid traffic but if you want quicker results then use it but remember paying for traffic doesnt mean its quality traffic which is what you should be targeting. I suggest you look up free traffic methods. This is what I go with most of the time.

4 Solo ads just chrck out my friend Igor Kheifets. The guy produces fantastic conversations all the time. He will get you highly targeted leads. This is one method you could of used in your MLM days.

5 If you mean systems that claim to make you rich fast, then I would stay away. Wont make you rich it probably cost you more than you earn. I have only ever used one and I still use today but its not one of those system I mentioned earlier.

Study, apply, analyze results, adjust then repeat endlessly. The amount of time and energy you are willing to put into this cycle will determine how quickly you can be successful. Also get laser focused on one approach to start. There is a lot of get money fast claims but they forget to mention it takes hard work. Best of Luck!

the best thing to do is not to read too much information as doing so actually makes things harder for you. the only real way to do it is to test and optimise

It just depends on the current aptitude of the individual. It varies. It took me just a month or so.
If you are not making at least a profit after 3 months of hard work then this may not be for you.

Solo Ads are mostly geared towards MMO niche and Personal Development. It is a fast way to build up a List. But not necessarily a quality way to do it. A lot of traffic from Solo Ads is junk.

And you do kind of need a system to make money online. There are hundreds to choose from.

Find one that fits your style.

Mine was blogging for awhile then I gravitated to Email Marketing which really is something that fits me to a tee.

If you don't get blinded by all the shiny objects out there, and manage to stick to one method that you find easy and enjoyable to practice until you see results, then you can succeed for sure.

As a newbie, you will often feel temped to jump from one method to the next, hoping the next one will get you the results faster. Don't fall for that trap.

Educate yourself, choose one method and stick to it

My suggestion is find something that works. Do not try and reinvent the wheel, it's already going round.

Some 3 months, other 6 months, others 4-6 years, it depends on many factors so it varies from person to person.

2. Is it simple make a landing page and a website blog talking about the product you are promoting and buy traffic?

When I was affiliate I created a salesletter then drove traffic and made money - it's simplest I can think of. Salesletter sells the product, talking about it does not.

Of course you have to use a special tool to link the buy button to the affiliate program order form directly - (then I added optin-box to build a list, but that later start small don't get caught it into multiple things).

3. honestly how much money in paid traffic do you have to spend to make money?

I used SEO (so I only paid for seo software and couple fees a month for some text links)...

This is just a traffic getting method - pick one traffic getting method and use just it until it works well. Solo ads in a nutshell: you find a website owner who has a list of subscribers - you pay him a fee and he sends an email (with a link to your website) to his subscribers.

5. do you need to buy a system to make money?

Don't get sucked and drained of time/money into "make money formulas" - you don't need any systems. Everyone is different so what may have worked for the owner selling the system many not be the right thing for you!

Instead learn what works like how to build a website that converts, how to write webcopy (copywriting) and so forth.
