Domain Forwarding : with Go Daddy OR Hostgator ?

hello !

I have a quick question about domain forwarding.

I want to forward a sub-domain, but does it matter if I do it with my Domain register or with my hosting company ?

Any pros and cons ?

I believe you will have to do it from your hosting company. The registrar controls the domain nameserver assignment to the host but anything else you want to do (such as redirecting a sub-domain) needs to be done from the hosting control panel.

You are speaking about sub domain... you need to redirect it with hosting company.

It depends on where your DNS is set up, on the domain registrar or your hosting provider.

Did you register the domain name with a provider like Domainnames . com or did you get hosting and the domain at once - such as goDaddy?

GoDaddy does domain redirects but that's if you haven't set up the domain with your hosting. If you have connected and setup the subdomain on your hosting, that is the place to do the forwarding/redirecting.

Like stated above if you have your domain setup with a hosting service then you will have to do it at the hosting service. I do it with hostgator and it is simple to do. Best of Luck!!
