For any online business, building a list is best investment for long term. It is a must!

Buy some solo ad traffic and or yahoo/bing PPC traffic and
send them to instant commission offers, or high ticket offers.

The key here is TRAFFIC + OFFERS = $$$

If you are not online everyday, it might be a bit of a problem to be on and off. If you like to write, you may want to try writing Kindle eBooks for Amazon when you are off-line... and promote them as soon as you are online. When the books are in the store, you can generate sales without you being online.

If you have knowledge that helps others share it online.

Find a market, and continuously educate yourself on it, turn it into a book/course and sell it. During the time you are on the boat with no internet access, you could be reading up on things and learning more. This increases your value and you can begin to make money.

There are tons of resources on the internet that will teach you how to do this.

Do you already know what your skill sets are? Identify them first and then work out a plan. At the end of the day you have to START SELLING to make money. That's easier said than done though.

You mentioned you won't be available online, so that means you won't be able to devote a lot of time creating and building systems from scratch. Looks like you need an autopilot system without having to do any ground work.

Stay away from MLM company because these company required you to invest in their system first before you can unlock the affiliate status.

And then they will ask you to send traffic to it by spending money on traffic such as solo ads.

This is not recommended because you won't be able to control it unless you are building a list.

So the best investment for you is to build a list right from the start and then send out promotion email to affiliate links.

There are a lot of ways for making money on online. You can start your own business. First of all you need your own website. You can make money through adsense or PPC. You may go with e-commerce site. It is a good source of making money. You may also try on Forex business, if you are familiar with it.

One good thing about Online Markting is that you can 'Set and Forget '.

Seriously. If this is a goal, it can be done.

Of course the more work online you can put the more success you can have.

But generally speaking if you start creating a Newsletter and getting traffic....you can set up Auto responder Follow Ups.And do over 100 that coversr a period of 1 year.

And if you do it right then you can start generating long term passive income and limit the amount of time that you actually have to be online.

I would start building a list of prospects, send them to an offer and follow up using emails.

Does not require you to be online everyday, and if you have everything set up correctly, most of it can be automated where you set it up and then just concentrate on generating traffic (solo ads, ppc, etc, as you do not have time).

The type of money you are talking about is achievable, but you have to have the right product and steps in place.

May I respectfully suggest that you find yourself a mentor --- someone who will tell you what to do and show you how to do it. There are mentors in all niches. If you want to invest money in shares, or in binary trading, currency exchanges, etc, there are mentors who will outline your best options. If you'd like to start a business, say in Internet Marketing, which is what this Forum is all about, there are lots of mentors who will coach you for a reasonable fee --- just ask a question in the Search box. There are literally thousands of ways of making money online but, rather than fumble about like I did for years, I think the first thing any newbie should do is decide which niche he wants to work in, and then find a mentor in that niche. Sadly making that amount of money a month for effort is actually quite difficult without considerable time and effort in the first instance. If you invest time and efforts at the beginning then you can create fantastic money making system.

Firstly avoid any get rich quick schemes. secondly find a niche you are passionate about and create your own website or blog. Thirdly create a minimum of 50 high quality posts and then start to incentivise your blog. Within a reasonable timescale you will start generating money.

Start with your insight. You've worked on a cruise ship for 11 years - that means you know things other people don't, and that has value. You have insight on everything from great destinations and things to do, what you should/shouldn't bring on your trip, what meals to avoid, where you can travel without needing a passport, etc. This might not seem like it's very useful info because it's second nature to you, but for someone who's taking their first cruise or looking to go somewhere new, they would certainly be willing to fork over their email address to download a PDF that contains some of your knowledge.

This does two things: One, it builds a reputation for you as the author. And two, it builds a list - a list of people that you know are interested in traveling by cruise ship. Most of the cruise lines have referral programs too, so now you have a product to sell to that audience as you build it. Maybe someone who stumbled across your eBook was interested in taking a cruise from Florida to the Mayan temples - what do you think the odds are that if you threw out a link to the Carnival Legends cruise they might bite? Travel is a big business, you can monetize the heck out of this.

That's phase one ... build your credibility/authority. Phase two is to get to where Kate McCulley is, (Google "Adventurous Kate" to look her up) where hotels and tourist attractions pay her to visit and write about her stay. Anyway, the point is there are a lot of options for you starting with what you already know. You have a ton of knowledge in your head that only comes from being "in the trenches" for 11 years - that's gold. Getting to $3k-$4k would be relatively easy in your position.
