Best Video Blogging Strategy - This OR That?

Hey..so I'd like to get the opinion of experts out there who have had success affiliate blogging. I know both strategies can see success but I'd like to pick one method first (mainly financial limitation).

I've tested a niche out promoting an affiliate product via PPC and seen positive results so I know people are interested in the product and want it. But the ROI for PPC isn't stellar. So...

I'm setting up a WP blog that I plan to update daily with videos and content all around similar keywords helping people in the niche. My plan to capture leads via opt-in through my video pages, relationship build and then promote some affiliate offers I've seen success with in PPC.

My question is to build viewership should I set up a Facebook Fan page and promote my postings (which have my blog posts) via Facebook ads to people interested in the niche

OR

Should I focus on building my backlink quality via high PR ranked sites. I know of some reputable warriors on here that offer that service. I know this may take a bit longer but could potentially have greater results long term.

I would love to do both but seeing I have a budget for this project I'd like to pick one strategy first and then hopefully extend to the second. Let me know your thoughts on pro's and con's.
