True SEO Training - no more click and your rich systems

Hello,

I was hoping you can provide some insight. I'm extremely new to IM, I've been looking at everything from Affiliates, Facebook Ads and SEO. My goal is to become the local SEO expert in my area but I'm having a hard time trying to find a good course, blog or "system" that can teach me the basics and beyond. I've researched a lot of training offers and found these courses/blogs to be the most "reputable" but its hard to really know without trying them. I wish I had the funds and time to take every course, unfortunately that's impossible.

I'm interested in the BUID THEM, RANK and RENT/SELL THEM Model. I'm looking for something that covers the basics and beyond. I am NOT looking for a "Click here" and your rich system. I know it's going to take time and effort and a bit of luck. Just looking to get a head start via a good "SEO Training package".

I hoping you guys can provide some guidance. Thank you.

1- Viperchill.com: Glen Allsopp - They have a course called Marketing Inc. (~$700). His website is awesome and seems to have a lot success.

2- OMGmachines.com: Mike Long and Greg Morrison - They have offer a few courses, the main one being the 2014 OMG NHB (~$5000) (Interesting note: Kotton Grammer credits them as his source for so much success so quickly)

3- Source Phoenix: Alex Becker, Ales Cass and Kotton Grammar: This one has been discussed many times here (mixed opinions)

4- Internet Business Mastery: Jeremy Frandsen and Jason Van Orden - Academy 101~$500): These have helped launched Pat Flynn, Cliff Ravenscraft, many others.

5- Lewis Howes: 7 Figure Webinars and Social Media Marketing. (~$1500)

6- Mattheew Woodward: SEO Tutorials (~$80)

Source Phoenix, i the latest SEO product on the market and has been getting a lot of buzz
and good reviews. It however is a but pricy. However if you want to get a good product
you will have to pay for it. I find Mathew Woodard to be very honest in his products
and his methods are very easy to follow. The guys at Drip Apps do rock too!
However personally i learn most i know from Mark Ling, you can add him to your list too,
his course is comprehensive and easy to follow and he teaches you the latest methods.

Be careful not to get yourself stuck within the fake guru bubble. It seems as though you're there now. You are being marketed to; sold the dream of monetizing Google loopholes.

Since you plan on selling to local small business clients you'll want to keep things 100% white hat. There's a lot of idiots out there deploying black hat techniques for their uninformed clients, which often ends in their client receiving a penalty or even a ban. Then (assuming they don't just disappear) they blame "changes at Google" and offer more services to fix the problem they actually created.

There is a ton of openly available information on white hat SEO. Here is one source:

Very good point, I was actually wondering about that since one product was talking about quickly building backlinks. Probably not a good way to build up my local rep... Thanks excellent advice.

My goal is to become the local SEO expert
Is this your goal because you think it's the easiest way to start making money or is it just something you want?

There are many easier more sustainable methods to build a business than SEO.

That being said, local SEO is so easy it's boring.

My personal learning - don't pay for anything unless you know for certain what you are getting into.

You can get all the learning you want on local SEO on Moz, and from all the people others have mentioned (Alex Becker, Matt Woodward et. al.). Most information (if not all) is free and available on their websites.

Alex Becker is where I will start - fun to see his videos, and learn at the same time. It is also the nearest to SEO/rent models you mention.

Once you get some feel of what is going on, it is then time to learn more. You learn only when you experiment yourself. And, people here and on a lot of forums offer fantastic help there.
