What's your biggest frustration with hiring new team members?

If you haven't hired anyone yet, what is keeping you from doing so?

this is an excellent question. A big problem I had was trying to do everything myself, which I now know was a huge mistake. My latest project took me a year when it should have taken me only a few months to complete, had I outsourced it properly. So only recently did I start to outsource some of the work.

My biggest frustration is when i explain what it is I need, and I think i'm explaining it properly however when the work is done it does not resemble any of what I had in mind! Drives me crazy. Has this ever happened to you? (I believe I'm not the only one)

My worst frustration is keeping hourly employees doing their work and not texting or surfing facebook. Sometimes I walk in and my assistant quickly puts her phone down. I know she's been texting up a storm and not doing what she's paid for.

It's a tricky situation to deal with because people get mad and hurt really fast when you confront them. Then they find other ways of secretly sabotaging you out of resentment. Just part of the game!

For me it's just the time it takes to evaluate candidates. Every time we've posted an opening -- even for unpaid internships back before we could afford to pay our interns -- we've been inundated with applications. Moreover, a lot have been great, so paring down the pool of applicants and ultimately choosing one can be really hard. In the new year, we'll be hiring again, so I'm expecting another flood (we'd hire now, but we just don't have the time). I'm looking into software solutions to help manage the process, but we'll still need to look at tons of resumes and then do interviews, all of which will be very time consuming.

For me it is slowing myself down long enough to clearly define the process. I think the problem a lot of use face is that we are actually so busy that we don't take time (or the long-term perspective) to get someone up to speed. If you find someone who is capable then it's best to make sure they feel some ownership in the arrangement. VAs are nice (meaning foreign sourced) but I like to find high caliber people in the states, and I don't mind paying them well. I don't have time to babysit, and from my experience you certainly get what you pay for.

Getting top quality people who can deliver results, hiring is a very lengthy process. Start with elance people are pretty good there. but if you are hiring people to be team members of your company then I suggest that you buy Eben Pagans Altitude program (training course). he talks a lot on hiring process besides other good marketing and Business advice. Its a bit expensive though but its worth it
