I never used JVZoo because of this concern...

Hello Warriors,

I've never used JVZoo because I am not in the IM/MMO niche by any means and I heard that my customers would see IM/MMO niche-related ads if I use JVZoo. I heard something like my customers would get emailed IM/MMO offers or something like that.

Is that still true today?

I dont think that was ever true. You will get emailed IM/MMO related offers, but not your customers.

I am not so sure if that's true. As I know, we will only get the notification from the owner of the product that we buy. Anyway, there's an opportunity that it will be happened if you put all your products (with various niches) at the same list. the solution : create the separated list for different niche. Thanks

You don't get, nor do your customers get, notifications of new products if you untick the box that allows them to send you promotions.

JVzoo never do this , only thing i found faulty is their customer support and insufficient knowledgebase of their own features.

They are improving it now and i hope they will best in world as IM community supports them a lot

The potential problem is that very few customers will notice it, are looking for it, or expect that something like that will be checked as a default. They're just disappointed when they start receiving what "feels like spam to them" because they don't appreciate that JVZoo's way of doing that is rather "designed to catch them unawares".

Sorry to disagree with most of the replies above, but I think the OP is actually quite right to be troubled by this.

I've always had other reasons for not using JVZoo, myself, but this would certainly be an additional one, for me, if they really haven't changed it.

That's exactly right and I have been bombarded with both JVZoo and W+ offers and I never forget to uncheck the box now. It should be unchecked by default, of course, but they probably get a lot of subscribers from people who are unaware, so it's not likely that they'll change it any time soon.

          Yes, I'm sure that's right.

They're putting off "people like me" from using JVZoo by doing that (I did have other reasons, too, I admit), because I consider it "deceptively motivated", but there's no point in pretending that they're making a net loss by doing that. Much though I'd like to be able to argue that, I don't really believe it for a moment.

Sbucciarel is quite right...you have to untick the box allowing them to send you emails. I've bought quite a few things from JVZoo, and I always remember to untick the box. However, I think one time I didn't, and now I get emails from them.

In fact, I just got one from them a few minutes ago with the subject "JVZoo Product of the Day" and signed "Your JVZoo Team" at the bottom. Came from "jvzoonetwork@gmail.com"...I guess I could unsubscribe, or set up a filter to send all emails from them to trash, but they all get routed to my "Promotions" folder anyway, and I just empty that folder every few days. That doesn't really help you with your situation, though, so I guess until they change things you might want to bypass them.

I've bought through them and don't remember getting emails, or I forget. Sure hasn't been a "issue".

Though I have gotten spam from the fakers. People using their name or pretending to be part of them.

As far as I know this is not true. You will receive emails about internet marketing related offers, but only you not your customers

I get emails from JVZoo since I've purchased a couple products sold through them. But I'm quite sure you can opt out? I'd have to go through a purchase to know for sure or not.

Yes, indeed. I think the two are in a different league.

I don't promote anything through JVZoo, for the reason explained above, I admit. But with WarriorPlus I'm not even willing to buy through them as a customer, let alone to promote through them, as an affiliate.

Personal opinion, of course (though I certainly know several longstanding Warriors who also share this perception) but it seems to me that all their communications, PR and marketing rather strongly imply an assumption of formal association, imprimatur, and ostensible authority, which, as a private business independent of this forum, they're far from entitled to portray.

          Was that long-winded?

I think they try to represent themselves as "an official part of this forum", and they're just not. It's persistently misleading (and I suspect that's intentional - not just "an accidental outcome"). I choose not to do business with them, for that reason.

Its a illegal and a big fine in Canada to automatically check that box. It's also highly discouraged now in many municipalities. We'll see something like that here in the US within the next 10 years unless companies self-regulate, which the big players do now post Canada crackdown.

I use JVZoo all the time for purchases, and most recently, for one product launch. Like a couple other people have mentioned, when you purchase something, you just have to make sure that you "uncheck" the box. If you don't do this, then you will receive offers from JVZoo and from the product vendor. In the past when I have forgotten to do so, I just later unsubscribe from the emails.

I've never used JVZoo because I am not in the IM/MMO niche
I had the same concern, but recently have been re-evaluting.

JVZoo today is not the same service as when it started, and it has been stellar in steadily coming out with new options.

Having the big "zoo" logo on a checkout page was not something I wanted, especially for non IM products. Now, that doesn't happen, and I believe you can customize your logo.

In order words, don't make your decision based on assumptions, or a state of affairs which is ancient history. Check out the service yourself to see what is available today and whether it meets your needs.

you will receive offers from JVZoo and from the product vendor
This, though is a major problem if it happens and something I will need to double-check. The check-off box is easy to miss, but last time I looked the box was only for receiving new product offers by the seller. Not JVZoo.

It's also a problem if you have both IM and non-IM products. You may not want someone to buy a non-IM product and then start receiving emails about your IM products. Or vice-versa. Multiple accounts may be needed.
