Forum growth and search engine traffic

Recently (about 4 days ago) I launched a new forum and did some promotion, and within 3 days my forum almost has 500 posts (posts from members are avging 20 to 40 words each).

And now I'm getting about 4-5 visits from Google searches a day on avg.

My main question is sort of general:

How big, approximately, must a forum be in order to get a good amount of traffic from search engines (provided the forum has proper onsite and offsite SEO work done)? As in a good amount of traffic I mean at least 10,000 to 20,000 visits per day.

Of course I know there are many variables that would determine this, such as niche, etc. I'm guessing that I would need at least 80,000 to 100,000 posts.

    I would suggest you to go for some social media marketing activities like Facebook marketing, LinkedIn and twitter marketing, guest blogging and also continue with the forum postings well. Once you make good number of followers on Google, you will automatically get large number of visitors.

      For google followers would that mean Google+?

    Have you consider to using PPC Ads like Google Adwords, Bing ads etc. It will help you to boost traffic.

      It would require a lot of articles or postings. Try some articles posting inside your forum for some big question in your niche. so forum pages which contain big articles provides you with long term traffic .You need to start cpc, cpi advertisements as well.make a good video about the niche of your forum and post it on your social media pages.
      Earn good numbers of like in facebook too.Then post some big thread links inside your facebook page.Need more sugestions ask me here....I will try to help as much as I can.

    As already mentioned, Social media is important these days. So getting your content out there and shared can help a great deal. And of course make sure your forum is set up so it's easy for users/visitors to share your content.
