How to cold email to internet marketers?

I am web-programmer who is trying to target an audience of internet marketers and make this audience as my niche.

My marketing strategy is to cold email internet marketers and let them know about me.

My question is how should I cold email an internet marketer as a web programmer, I mean what are the specific needs of an internet marketer that a web programmer can solve ? what are the particular problems that i can address and solve as an web programmer for an internet marketer.

Also can you guys tell me what would be a convincing subject line and few convincing points through which the internet marketer would like to contact me back?

Most of them are just going to delete your email so I really think that you are going to waste your time doing this.

I agree with talfighel, most of them are probably going to delete your email. They know how IM works, and they're going to have their guard up knowing they're being sold to.

I think the only way you're going to be able to do anything is to really do your research on each one individually and maybe custom make them something like Corey said. You are probably going to have to do some work pro bono to get some reviews to get started. The marketers that are more established will be the hardest because they probably already have someone they use on a regular basis.

I think anything is possible, and people will eventually gravitate to you if your stuff is good enough. Google wasn't the first search engine, they just did it better than anyone else. You don't have to recreate the wheel, just make a better wheel. Just don't expect it to happen overnight. But don't give up, and in time hopefully you'll see some results. Just depends on how much time you're willing to invest before seeing results.

Sure, most will ignore the email. But some will respond if you present yourself as someone credible and if you stay the course. I built a freelance writing business cold emailing potential clients.

hmm... with all these ready-made plugins online I am not sure you can convince him to trust you unless you can offer him something better, cheaper with same quality or even something custom made.

if you can offer him something custom made, or even something that does the same comparing to ready made scripts do, then there's no reason he won't try you out.

if you keep him happy then you will start building reputation - he will order more - he will talk about you to his friends, social media and so on - keeping the customer happy is the key

This is something you have to determine. Why do you want to target Internet marketers? What do you have that they need? What makes you think this is a good plan? I mean, you're the one that came up with the idea.

    couple of questions...

do you already have you email list? is there enough margin to send each person personal message?

depending on the answers the strategy is different.

Dont send out cold emails. Period. Your list broker or whoever you buy a list from will swear up and down about how HOT these leads are. When in truth, cold emailing sucks. But hey, if you sell viagra, you might get a few sales. Otherwise, do some paid and free advertising online, lead them to your website, have them subscribe for more info, and continue to pitch them on your services. Internet marketing cold leads are the worst.

Don't worry about cold emailing - You need jv partners. The first thing you need to do is develop a relationship with some of the top marketers in your niche. Don't immediately pitch them. Comment on their blogs, WSO threads, offer to provide content for them, like their fan page or befriend them on facebook. Most importantly, show some love and purchase a product from them. Once they know you, they're going to be a LOT more receptive to whatever you're pitching and more likely to promote your offer to their list.

Your an idiot, post an ad and showcase your talents. Seriously in the IM niche you have the ones killing it and the ones that are so broke they can't even pay for their 7 bucks monthly hosting, neither one will respond to a cold email.

Also you're asking questions that can be researched by going to any freelance site and seeing what jobs people post for programmers, the warriors for hire section go their and search programmers then browse the comments to see what people ask,

You might try contacting the person through another venue than email. For instance, if they have a Facebook or Google+ page, you could leave a comment about how your services might be compatible with theirs. Just don't try to sell that person anything during this contact. Another possibility is to send an introductory email that simply talks about how you can help their business, rather than trying to get them to buy something from you. Offer to talk with the person via chat on Skype or however you prefer to communicate so they can inquire more about your services.

I won't beat around the bush . . . it sounds like you're planning to spam Internet marketers with you services. Under very specific rules, you can send unsolicited commercial emails, but from the information in your post, you don't know how to do it or what you're doing to stay legal. Regardless, it is about the least effective way to start a business and you will get many complaints and possibly your hosting shut down. Don't do it. Go after free, paid, or some other legal strategy to put your business out there.

It all begins with doing your market research. As a business owner, you need to find out for yourself where there is demand in the marketplace. You don't ask the public in a forum what kind of services you should offer - because mostly their answers will be wrong. Do you own homework online and see what the market is asking for. Most of the people on this forum are newbies without businesses - just look at the threads that are posted here.

To be honest, your plan is not a good one and will only lead to you getting a poor reputation and having no business. Better to learn that now than to go down this ill-conceived path.

Thank you for your opinion Steve, although I wasn't planning to spam anyone out there. I just shared a strategy that I have read in marketing blogs and as for me posting this on the forum, well this was the best thing I did because now I know that my audience wouldn't like to know about my services like that and as a lot of people have given such good ideas to build the repo first so I will go for that instead of emailing people.

Thanks guys again for saving my time.
