Should I use godaddy affiliate site?

Hey. I just joined up under godaddy about a week ago & got my domain name from them. Should I use them as an affiliate site for hosting? They had the best deal I had seen around & would like to make a recurring income from them. Has anybody tried them before? Thanks.

Never host in the same place where you've registered your domain-name (and especially not if it's GoDaddy!).

This thread explains why (I suggest you click on the links inside this post, as well as reading it): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7628717

I see. Just joined to get the best deal I could find but wouldn't want to cause other problems. Bluehost sounds like a better option

      Not to me, it doesn't.

It's owned by the dreaded EIG conglomerate/disaster.

Their business model seems to be that of taking over previously good hosting companies (like Hostgator and Bluehost) and rapidly turning them into unreliable customer-service nightmares. They've recently bought Arvixe as well, so that's another one to stay away from.

In my opinion (but far from "only" my opinion), companies to avoid for hosting are GoDaddy, 1and1, and all those owned by EIG.

This recent thread may help you (but read it all the way through): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...companies.html

Hey. Thanks for the heads up & the useful post that I hadn't seen before. Looks like namecheap is the way to go & will see what I can do with that. Still learning & hope to pass it on to other new people as well.

Run a million miles from anything owned by Endurance International. The full list can be seen here: All Endurance International Web Hosting Brands

I was with HostGator for many years. Eventually, earlier this year, after increasingly bad customer service I began carefully researching who to replace them with. I tested many companies, calling them and emailing them with a variety of questions to test their response time and overall knowledge.

BigScoots won hands down, and I've never regretted my decision. They transferred all my sites to their servers within a couple of hours - email accounts, sub-domains, everything.

Their customer service is first rate and I've had several people comment on how fast my sites now load.

      I recommend them highly.

Apparently all the most popular hosting brands are under EIG, so in my opinion they should be safe to use.

Can you honestly, seriously, be as naive as this suggests, Dave? Have you read the thread at all?!

Have you read any of the hundreds of other threads on this subject?!

Does it genuinely not occur to you at all that the reason EIG is buying them is that they're the most popular hosting brands at the time EIG buys them, and that EIG buying them all is what then, fairly promptly, makes them unsafe to use, because of how EIG saves on the costs of running them all by putting them all in the same place and taking away most of their customer service?!

For myself, after GoDaddy, it's probably the absolute top one I'd avoid. Even more so than the EIG ones. (Do a Google search for "1and1 scam" and you'll very quickly see why.) Reading the thread linked to above will help you. Here it is, again: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...companies.html
