Exactly how I made $1000.00 last Week (Anyone can do this)

First off, I know $1000 is not a lot to many of you, but or some people it would be very nice to make an extra EASY $1000 this week, or next.

Alright, this is not a method to make money using "internet Marketing" so-to-speak, however, you can tweak this method using some form of IM for sure if you are creative.

Just to let you know - I am NOT Releasing a WSO anytime soon - This is just a post to help someone out that Needs to make some quick cash. Seems like everyday I read a new psot "How can I make 100k in 24 hours" type of thread.

I Love getting sweet deals on things, literally everything I own is the result of my getting for half off, from my house to my car, to the computer I'm using and everything in between. I just HATE paying full price. SO this method involves using simple technique I use whenever I need to make some quick cash on the side.

I will try to make this post as coherent as possible!

Step 1:
Goto Craigslist

Step 2:
Goto For sale section. Electronics and Cell phones are my favorite.. but there are deals everywhere.

Step 3:
Understand that most of the people selling stuff on craigslist, are doing so because they need some form of Quick Cash .

They May post Blue Widget for $100 but be willing to accept A LOT less.

Okay, so lets say we see Blue widget" on sale for $100 on Craigslist.

Step 4:
Goto eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
And do a basic search for "Blue widget" then after you search, click on the "advanced search" and scroll down to "completed listing" check that then click on search. This will search the past 15 days of blue widgets that have sold.

I'm Coining the following terms:
EMV = Ebay Market Value . This is the Current Value of the Item + Shipping. Take this value by adding up the highest sold 3 plus the lowest 3 sold of the same exact item like your's average them together. 100 + 105 + 107 + 86 + 92 + 77 this will equal = $94.5 This is the EMV.

Okay, so now what do you do with the EMV?

Lets go back to blue widget, we just did a closed items search and we see that based on the items sold* the EMV is $94.5

And the person had it listed on Craigslist for $100 bucks.

Step 5: Determine your offer price.
NOTE: 9 times out of 10 the Craigslist Price will be LOWER then the EMV..

Now you will want to make an offer to the person, keep in mind, when you make your offers, you will get more "NO's" then yes' so this is how you do this. (My background is in buying Real Estate Investment houses, so that's how I came up with this formula..and it WORKS!)

CLOP = Craigslist Offer Price

The CLOP = EMV * .70 (This number takes in consideration ebay fees and everything.. sometimes I go as low as .60 , but on hot items .70 is about the best.. the lower you bring this number the less buys you will get, but the better profit you will get in the end)

So our CLOP = $94.50 (EMV) * .70 (70% of the EMV or 30% off) = $66.15

Step 6: Make the Offer Whenever I do this, I always do it in the morning, I get the best results and it often times allows me to buy the item, prior to other people even seeing the new add. I usually call when I can, I don't like to email because it takes a while and gives people a chance to "think about it"

So this is what I do:
I call Bob about his blue widget, and tell him I'm really interested in it, I can meet him in 20 minutes with cash. I tell him my offer price and and I immediately ask where we can meet. He either says yes or no. If no, hang up and make another offer on something else!

Step 7: The Exchange
I would have $60 in 1 pocket, and the rest in the other pocket. Tell him you have $60, (literally take it out and hand it to him so he takes it) If he takes it and says thanks.. You are good to go, if he said I thought you said $60 , then you say something (In a joking manor or whatever) "Oh c'mon dude times are rought" or something, don't be scared to haggle.. then if you can take the other $6 out of your right pocket and hand that to him also..

Step 8: List it on ebay
List it on ebay, collect the money ship it off and move on.

You can do this as often as you would like everyday!

Case Study:
I have found, that the stuff that has a EMV of $300 or more, you can get for a better price. So if you can't afford to buy a $300 item , build up to that save your profits and just work your way up! You can start out small then move up to used cars or something! I know some people who make a killing buying and selling cars on CL.

Last week alone I needed a quick $500 for my GF's birthday..

These are a few of the deals I got:

Bose Surround Sound + Sony Receiver + Logitech Remote: $100 sold the bose setup for $345 , sold the Recever for $70 and the Remote for $60 Profit $375

Dell Desktop w/ 24 inch Monitor: I kept the monitor and sold my old one anyway I bought it for $250 and sold it for $350 to a friend. $100 Profit

Dell dimension w/ Computer Chair (Very nice executive chair) paid $100 sold the dell for $200 and kept the chair! $100 profit

Brother 3-in-one color Laser Printer ( I was gonna keep this!): Bought it for $50 sold it for $200 : $150 profit

65" Rear Projection TV: Bought it for $185 sold it for $300 I just put this back on CL! $115 Profit

Rock Band II basically everything brand new $45 sold $100 $65 profit

Garmin Nuvi: Paid $60 sold for $120 = $60 profit

I am very aggressive with my offers sometimes I get items as low as 45 cents on the dollar.. I NEVER go above .70 EVER if you do, you risk breaking even or losing money on the deal.

I can go on and on, over the last 2 years or so I've prolly made $15 grand just like this. I will only do this when I need quick cash. It requires persistence when making offers, more people will say no then yes.. and it requires a little bit of time, that's all.

Well, I hope atleast one person on here finds this post and is able to Make some Xtra E-Z Money!

Sorry if it's not IM but heck, maybe you can setup a "I BUY YOUR JUNK" website, buy it, and resell it!

Best of luck, I will answer any questions people may have.

very nice method, there was a guy selling this method on ebay back when ebooks were allowed.

So do you use the *70 on real estate as well? I would think not, perhaps *60?

I have used a similar method that I talked about in this forum, but I target laptops because they sell at about a 95% rate and I can bank about 75.00 a sale from them, but I can only find so many deals though. It is really good to do when I need some seed money though.

Yes, that's the most important thing to remember.. Keep it fun!

Something I recommend doing is, buy stuff that you have an interest in talking about / learning about / playing with. At first, I used to buy nothing but cell phones.. a few years ago I was all about the latest cell phone gadgetry (now I just can't keep up) but it made it a Game to call people to try to get the lowest deals on them.. I had so many phones it made no sense.

If you are into hobby's you could "play for free" esentially using this method!

Thanks for sharing the method, smart one.
Just to add on if i am not wrong, If u r a new user in ebay u got to list ur first 5 sales on aution, fixed price option wont be there. secondly if u r a new user and u seel somethign on ebay paypal holds ur money until the buyer post positive comments or 21 days pass without any disputs.

Yes, as long as you follow the numbers and don't buy anything for more then .70 of the EMV you can't loose! That's what makes it so great.

I have some other ebay methods I use to find deals and what not, but this is by far the best one.

It looks like you have made a nice outline here but I would just like to add when you are calculating the EMV I would take a look at the highest bids (especially for electronics) and see if the highest bidders have 0 and negative feedback and if they have that icon next to their name that means they are new to ebay. The majority of time they just bid up items and never pay. If you see a blackberry curve selling for $900 that was bid up by a scammer that would throw the whole equation off.

Great stuff!!! I really like how you do business. 70% of EMV sounds like a great buy but what about FREE? If you go to CL in the for sale items section there in a category entitled FREE. Why not grab everything you can for FREE and sell it on ebay? that would be a great profit ... Oh and BTW kijiji has a ton of stuff also (as well as a FREE section).

I like the idea. Even tho in this instance you still need a little bit of money to get rolling - prolly $100 anyhow to be able to buy/low sell/high. To resell on eBay is then 3-5-7 day auction so your waiting for your ROI money till the end of the auction, however many days that is.

I can see where you'd have to get several buy/low sell/high deals going in your pipeline to maybe get some momentum where you can clear $500-$1000/wk depending on the price points of your items you're reselling.

I recognized the .70 "formula" from RE investing, which is a great way to look at the numbers before you buy. Except that's going to be the high end of an offer in my neck of the woods these days - for anything. I'd start at .60% / .65% and a motivated seller.

Thx for the kewl concept there xDennis and explaining it simple enough that one could get up tomorrow AM and start the "wheeling and dealing" at their kitchen table on the phone and their laptop in their underwear. <now there's a visual>

    Cheers \_/

You bet! You just have to buy cheaper! That's all. For me, ebay is like how IM is for some of you. I can easily count on ebay to make some fast cash at any given time.. where as some of you can easily count on making thousands on IM! I still have yet to make more then $480 /month on IM .. yet I've made thousands on ebay using various more advanced techniques.

Just like in IM.. if google changes the way you can do business, you have to work around it and figure out a new system to follow:p

Exactly, I always tell people times are rough but they are helping me out by giving me a good deal and I really appreciate it. Which is all true by the way
