Sundays and Weekends ughhh

I don't really like when things are closed and everyone has off. Its Sunday and my friends and family are not on IM. There is not much activity on my sites. Most of the stores I like are closed. They gym is closed as well or I would exercise and get a steam.

Of course I do understand the need for time off. I love time off myself, but hate it when things are closed and slow when I have time off. At nighttime I'm thankful for the few stores that are open 24/7.

I guess I'm strange. The nice thing is that if I outsource things around the world, I know that someone is working on it while I sleep. I like that feeling.

Why did I start this thread? Well ,, everything is closed and I am bored.

Sunday's are usually pretty slow for me too, although today I still raked in $200.

As for the brick & mortar businesses, I never understood why so many close on the one or two days of the week that the most people are available to buy your stuff... Go figure.

I know what you guys mean. We all need a break but some brick and motor places are losing out on big money by not being open (or staying open long enough) on Sundays.

2 of my favorite stores and 3 places I love to eat are either closed today or close shop before 5.

I check emails everyday and I think I personally pay greater attention to emails that come in on Sundays.

Then Monday arrives, there are like three times more than Sunday emails in inbox (although Sundays in US could be Monday in Japan or elsewhere).

Even though Monday emails seem a lot, when I only read a few emails on Sundays, I feel like I have "very little to read" and I end up looking forward to reading more on Mondays (which does mean I actually like a lot of emails).

Takuya... you bring up a very interesting point...

Why not do email promotions on Sunday. This could be very lucrative for the IM Market... as most wannabe internet marketers check their emails several times per day... looking for that big secret to making money.

I have noticed of recent that I get very few emails on Sunday. Maybe that would improve open and read rates... click throughs... and sales. At least it might if there were less emails to compete with for the users attention.

If canton is anything like some of the towns I have lived in... noone takes a friggin' cc and very few stay open past 5. The ones that do take a cc... their cc machine is down half the time. Most restaurants are closed by 9 or 10 pm. The best you can do for food is the one gas station that is open all night... and consider yourself lucky if you have one of those.

          Hi Scott,

Well the way you write it seems you are more depress and down, cheer up man u have a long way to go a head and dont get bored its better you think of something on the weekends.

Invest your time in creating new ideas for your business or Invest time in Reading books so that you have time and you would make the best use of that,in the way it benefits you.

I actually love Sundays...they are "free" days where I can play with the dogs, go out to eat, take my daughter to the park, ect. In fact, Sunday is the one day where I won't touch my computer until very late in the night (hence why I am writing now)

            Dennis,

I think people really into IM do either "work just as hard" on Sundays so they'll read your emails anyway or take "well deserved" off on weekends.

The more "leading internet marketers" perhaps do spend time with families during weekends because they work in IM full-time so the email volume naturally goes down.

But there are ones waiting for emails on Sundays just as any day I think.

As a matter of fact, I just had to send a short broadcast about 15 min ago to my own list and I logged back in on Aweber to see if it was sent out OK and already 12% clicked through.

Conventional wisdom (or at least general idea) maybe to wait to send emails till Mondays but if it's proven to be more profitable on weekends, it'll build an interesting case study.

Plus like I said earlier, Sundays in US are Mondays in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and other places like that.

I represent the "wannabe" internet marketers side of population so I end up checking emails a few times on Saturdays and Sundays.

Thanks Vorales. Perhaps you are right. My wife and boy are out of town and while that's good for some free time to work, it really gets lonely at night without them.

Overall I'm quite happy, but I get frustrated when my brain wants something and I realize that the store is closed and I have to wait.

I thought I was the only one who thought this was bizarre! They stay open while everyone is at work and closes when people need to go there.

By the way, Scott Ames, I get where you're coming from

You should move out here to L.A.

Can we have piccies to prove it. (espcecially if you're wearing a frilly apron whilst doing said housework)

Regarding the whole "Sundays are a big money maker for brick and mortar businesses" thing...

Most stores that I have worked at that have Sunday trading do VERY little business on those days. There are very few visitors and a very small percentage of them are buyers.

Of course things might be different elsewhere (I'm an Aussie) but keep in mind there are lots of smart businesspeople out there... if it made sense to be open on a Sunday, they probably would be.

I have to force myself not to work on Sunday. I think it's great if you can take time off to relax, but I find with so many things on the go, I find myself wanting to do things so I can 'get through my list'.

One of my goals is to actually attain boredom (if not just briefly).

              Scott, you lucky man!

LOL.. you are right. I find that I have a paradox. There is more to do than I can possibly get done, but I get bored at the same time. That's when I expect the whole world to be working so that they can serve my every whim.

Like today.. I got up at 4:30 am, went to the gym, came home, showered, got breakfast, and would have gotten a hair cut at 6:30 Am if any place were open. When a store opens at 10:00 am it seems like half the day is gone. I'm a morning person mostly, but sometimes at midnight I would like to get some paper at Staples, but can't. WalMart wins in that case if they have it.

Shops and stores in our town do huge business on a Sunday, you can't move in Asda, (our equivelent of wallmart) for Sunday shoppers, same with the retail parks etc. They are all busy

I remember those days of working around the clock.

Nowadays, my computer shuts down at 5PM on Friday and isn't cranked up
until Monday morning. I used to "just" check email on Saturday and found I
suffered from the Potato Chip Syndrome ("bet you can't read just one!), and
the day would be shot before I knew it! It's just easier for me not to even
    turn it on.

Friday was my 27th anniversary so went out with friends to celebrate.
Saturday I was at the UCF/USF game...awesome game!...and hung out with
    friends till 2:30 am.

Sunday after church did the "housewife" stuff...laundry, ironing, etc.

Living in Orlando, there's usuallly someplace open to eat, drink, shop or be
entertained almost any hour of the day! So, I try to spend as much time
building a life as I do building a business!
