What would you do If you are starting all over again and knowing the things you know in internet marketing, how would you get started and ultimately reach a full-time income?
#starting

My greatest mistake was not getting a mentor. If I were to start all over again, I will SURE GET myself a mentor, and follow his advice

That's the mistake of most newbies

They flail around trying things rather than get theirselves education

I tell you what I wouldn't do and that would be what EVERYONE is doing at this moment. 2015 is coming and we ALL must change.

Internet Marketing is changing in a big way, don't miss the boat.

Really? Do tell how it's changing and how we must change. You sound like a guru.

"Quick! The next best thing is here. Get this super underground system that's going to rock 2015! Don't be the one who regrets missing out! Only 10 copies left."

IM is always changing because digital media and technology is always changing. The principles always remain the same though: sell something, make money. No new technology is ever gong to replace that. Chasing trends is another thing that sends noobs spinning in circles, but it makes wannabe gurus richer. No doubt.

    Avoid affiliate marketing.

Work on a single project that is one's own business, whether an authority blog or ecommerce site.

Work every day to refine that business and build the list/customer base.

    Be patient.

If you are a complete fresher on internet marketing, then best idea is to join any live digital online courses and attending webinars. Through this medium, you can get to learn a complete depth about internet marketing and also get the certificates as well.

Get a mentor, create products, build a list, stick to ONE thing and be yourself <= in that order for me (in fact I am doing something like this right now as I am re structuring my business)

That's really excellent advice, just as adetunji mentioned above. I spent many, many years chasing after shiny objects, and spend over $15,000 searching for the ONE thing that would help me make some money online, all to no avail. A lot of the products I bought were good, and those that are still gathering dust on my hard drive will, hopefully, generate some profit one day. Earlier this year I realized I wasn't going to get anywhere without a mentor and, now, at last, I'm making progress.
The first thing you need to do is to decide on something you're interested in, something that resonates with you, something you know you can promote and make money from. Then find a mentor in that niche who will share his or her expertise with you --- and to find him or her, all you have to do is ask in the Search box on this forum, or, simply, ask on Google. Good luck, and keep smiling!

There are two things I would do differently. I'm into niche blogging, and when I first got started, I literally spent years publishing "money-making content" to third-party sites rather than my own because I was too scared to learn Wordpress and stuff. I was so irritated when I learned how easy it actually was. When third-party sites change the rules on you and stuff, you learn how important it is to have control over your own content.

The second thing I would do differently is to not "put all my eggs in one basket" by relying on one blog to bring in all of my income. I waited longer than I should have to start creating multiple blogs because my main one was doing so well. The thing is that if things change too much, that can come back to bite you in the butt.

Getting a mentor would be helpful to understand most things happening with IM, but if i was to start again it would be to build a list and market to them. With saying that, taking action would also follow this, I waited too long out of fear of failure, failure turned out to be the best thing to motivate me. So I would build a list as soon as I could.

I'd do the same thing I originally did, but avoiding all the mistakes I made through ignorance, confusion, information overload and lack of judgment about whom to believe. So it would be much quicker, and include a lot less trial and error.

Specifically, I'd know - second time around - that it isn't about "taking action", but about setting off in the right direction and getting some realistic education before shooting yourself and your business in the (elegantly high-heeled) foot.

I know it's a bit cliché but I'd have to say not really anything.

Like most people, I've made a lot of silly mistakes that could've been completely avoided had I done things differently. However, the experience I gained through these mistakes made me a better blogger and marketer, and were way better learning experiences than anything I could've read on a computer screen.

Would I probably have made more money if I had gotten a coach that helped me avoid the silly mistakes I was making? Probably. But I'm happy with where I'm at and how I got here and you never know how much different my current situation would be if I never made the mistakes I did.

First, I would search around until I found some segment of IM that really interested me.
Second, to save a year (or more) of frustration and making mistakes, I'd get a good mentor.
Third, I'd stick with this one thing until I felt like I had a good grip on it.

Once there, you can decide if you want to expand to new areas.

Making mistakes is a natural part of it, but second time around, I'd be able to avoid
      at least some of them.

Avoiding shady SEO tactics would have saved me from my income getting smashed by google twice. Focusing on quality content and white hat SEO and being a little more patient for the results to come.

Also not putting all of my eggs in one basket. Getting into email marketing years ago would have been awesome.

Here's what I would have done:

    1. I would have educated myself sooner. I just happened to figure things out with lots of mistakes along the way. I would have spent more time learning instead of just doing.

    2. I would have replicated what was working immediately. Do more and more and more of it until it stopped working.

    3. I would have figured out how to use the $ I was earning to create more $ for me in a different way. So for example investing it instead of using it completely for my projects and life

I hope that helps. If you want to know more, my blog link is in my signature and my story is on the about page.

I'd sell soap. Liquid soap is incredibly cheap to produce or buy wholesale. Throw in some Aloe Vera, and other stuff perceived to be beneficial (benefits are often in the eye of the beholder), add some nice fragrance, color, a pretty bottle with a clever name and attractive logo you can brand, yeah, baby.

The markup on soap is incredible. $.25 worth of liquid soap wholesale (can be sold as shampoo, car wash, body wash, pet wash, degreaser, etc.) can retail for as much as 10 or 20 times that. Liquid soap is pretty much the same stuff minus the color, fragrance and additives yet people swear by their brand. Yep, I'd sell soap.

I now this sounds cliche but it is just the honest Truth.......Build my List much, much sooner and Focus on it much ,much, sooner.

If I could tell any Newbie one thing , I would say to start this ASAP !!

Because eventually, one way or the other, you will find this is the best way to make a Living in IM !!

Whatever you are good at, your profession, designing, programming, cooking etc, you get the point. Share your ideas with people. Use blogger or wordpress as your hosting service for a starter.

Just take whatever you're going to do seriously.

Create a business plan. Schedule the to-dos into your calender and then do it.

It's not about getting rich quick, it's about creating a valuable product or service and then sticking with it until the end, riding the ups and downs, getting results and feedback and treating this like a business.

Pick one thing, focus on it. Make it work.

And if you're going the product route, build an 'evergreen' sales funnel so you don't have to bust your nut every month creating a new product, a new product, a new product...
