So I'm planning on making a few accounts on youtube based off of different niches and then branching out through those accounts to social media platforms such as facebook, twitter and G+. Nothing overly new or groundbreaking with that plan...

The one thing I'm having a hard time deciding though is if I should make blogging type websites associated with each of those accounts or should I save that for later after (hopefully) those accounts start to pick up momentum and a following?

I'm thinking it's an obvious yes that I should do that now, although I'm not very familiar with all the in's and out's that go into making an appealing, user friendly website. That's really my only main concern with making them now as opposed to later. Maybe another thought would be, what if my accounts never pick up traction and fizzle out? Then I just wasted a lot of money on domains and hosting.

On the other hand, what if by some miracle I actually find some success through youtube and social media? Maybe this is a little premature, but I'm thinking about the possibility that someone else sees my accounts and decides to copy their names and make websites based off of them. Is that a legitimate concern or am I just thinking way too hard about it?

You're thinking too hard about it and you're setting yourself up to be spread way too thin. Pick one project and roll with that. 1 website, 1 YT account, 1 FB or Twitter account. Keep it simple and stay focused. Anything else will have you running in circles.

I agree with Roth. Pick a horse and ride it. Once it wins a race or two for you, then start working on the next one.

For something like this you have to do step by step, don't hurry and don't mess up things

  • Out of all these accounts I will advise that you get one properly researched and get started in that It will give you the focus and you will see results soon.

Thanks for all the responses! The only reason I was thinking about starting multiple projects is because everyone always says to diversify your incomes. I guess it's pretty clear that I should just focus on one and see where that takes me instead of jumping the gun and getting overwhelmed

Yes start with one and set all accounts up for that one brand. Work on this, grow it and see how that goes. Afterwards you can look at creating more channels and move into different niches. You can actually have multiple channels within the one YouTube account and only you know they're connected

If you set up one set of these accounts and work the bugs out of that setup, you can go on to duplicate your successful system as many times as you are capable of maintaining them.

But set one system up to begin with, not a bunch of YT accoutns, then a bunch of blogs, then a bunch of FB pages. What you will get in this way is experience in setting up that particular type of account rather a feel for it takes to be succesfull in marketing and promoting in a particular market or with a particular product.

It is good to diversify, but start with a successful campaign, then diversify using the smae basic arrangement.
