Offering services on WF without Paypal - Alternatives?

Hi Warriors,

Paypal is a no-go for me anymore, hasn't been for a long time.

I would like to re-start my content writing service on WF. The problem is how will I get paid. I'm under the impression that if Paypal isn't available as a payment option then out of convenience clients might look elsewhere.

I could potentially ask my girlfriend to set up a Paypal account in her name and simply get paid that way. Is this a viable solution?

But my main question is: what other payment processors could I offer that most warriors will be happy to use?

Thanks

Martin

      Hi Martin,

Not being able to take PayPal payments, in this market, especially given the way its demographics are now changing, may be disastrous. It's how most customers want to pay!

Why not use something like 2Checkout which can take payments from customers by PayPal, but without using PayPal to pass the money on to the vendor/service-provider?

      There are several such services.

Its an invoicing system so makes it easy to bill clients and they have a number of different payment gateways built in although I don't know which ones they are exactly. I use them for other purposes and have been very happy.

Also might look into Google Wallet

Google Wallet is pretty good. The only thing is that it's pretty easy to hack into somebody's gmail and once you're in their gmail... well, you have access to all the other stuff they have.
If it were to come down to choosing an alternative to PayPal though, it would have to be Google Wallet.

I also agree that 2Checkout is a great alternative. Many websites use it.

I've seen threads where there were other payment options (no Paypal available), and there were a lot of issues. People constantly asking if they could pay in Paypal which basically kills the thread.

So my advice would be to definately find a work around to have Paypal as a payment option. People are used to it and expect it to be available on the WF.

My guess is that 2Checkout will be the easiest to use, for what you suggest (and it shouldn't lose you too many customers, especially if you specify clearly in your sales-post that people can pay by PayPal).

There are others (including ClickBank, of course - they do handle services as well as "products", but they take 7.5% + $1 per sale, and it will probably be more laborious process setting up with them, rather than with 2Checkout, I guess.)

          Good luck!

You make a great point and warning: since billing is such critical aspect of IM business, putting all your eggs into Paypal's lap can be a risky proposition. The prudent path may be to have backup billing accounts from competitors, Google and Amazon offerings come to mind. I believe ClickBank also has its own billing system...

skrill sucks.. don't use them.. they become worst since changing from moneybookers to skrill (not sure if it is a change of ownership). just take a look at their facebook and you will see why. i have issues with my withdrawal with them too..

You can also try FastSpring they process both
Credit card and PayPal payment you can
receive your money via Payoneer after your
first $100 wire transfer. You just need to mention
it on your sales page. There are also other payment
    method like 2Checkout.
    Hope this helps?

Get in touch with me, you can write exclusively for me if the rates are right, I do require some bulk discount obvious, I can pay by bank, but I do have to say that I pay when the work is delivered (can be weekly or bi-weekly)

This cause I've been scammed 3 times the last weeks, and that won't happen again.

I'm also launching a new writer platform where people can chose to get paid by either paypal or bank.

Paypal on your GF's name would obvious work as well.

Those jumping in to post one alternative after another are missing the point.

Alexa had it right - you NEED an alternative that allows buyesr to PAY with Paypal. It's not about how you receive your money - it's about a trusted plan buyers will use.

If PayPal can drop you your girlfriend can too. Trying to run a business and using a friend or a relative as a payment gateway is a recipe for disaster.

    As Alexa and Kay said:

Customer pays with PayPal through (2Checkout or ___________).
(2Checkout or _____________) pays you directly but not through PayPal.

For those saying Google Wallet, they will be ending their Wallet API in April so that is a very short term option.

Are you saying that they will discontinue Google Wallet? Any idea why?

Anyway, here's a list of alternatives I've found. But I wish this list was sorted somehow, like who is best and such, or best for the IM crowd ...
