Just go to a big newsagent's store and see if they sell any magazines which contain articles about the niche.

All those print media publishers have already done all the market research for you, and assessed the financial viability, market interest, demographics and other stuff.

If you find the subject covered, that means people are regularly spending money, to read about it. And advertisers are paying for those magazines to be printed because they can make money from it, too. It's all "tried and tested". It's a real market, with real people spending real money.

And if that's so, and if there's stuff to promote online as an affiliate, then in principle there's no reason at all for your not being able to make at least $1,500 per month out of the niche. (And even if there isn't, you might still be able to do that as a vendor, anyway, by producing something to promote online.)

And you can look at how many different ads there are on AdWords for the "grossly obvious keywords", and whether people continue to advertise. If they do, they're making something out of it. And if they're making something out of it, then there's something to be made out of it. And that's all you're asking.

Are there books or products selling for that niche on Amazon?
Are there blogs and sites for that niche when doing a Google search? How do those sites monetize? Ads? Affiliate products?
  • Pretty much every niche allows for 50 bucks a day; assuming you know what you're doing. Having said that, I test niches with PPC. Then I set up my free traffic strategies to send volume; whilst optimizing and scaling my paid traffic campaigns.

  • A great way I've used to test if a niche is profitable in the past - is by heading over to Clickbank, searching through the various categories (different niches) and looking at the gravity of the highest selling products in that niche.

If quite a few sellers have a high gravity - you can pretty much guarantee that, that is a profitable niche.
  • Like Alexa said. Magazines provide the best indication as to what is "Hot" right now

  • I can tell you that most niches are profitable even if they don`t have affiliate offers. There`s always something to gain from the PPC advertising.

    • I concur with all the posts here.

I would also do a Google search to see whether there is any forums on the topic plus I search the answers sites to see if people are asking questions as well.
  • This topic has come up several times on podcasts I've listened to lately, and the people that are doing a lot in the niche site space consistently tell you that there's a lot of luck involved and you often find that the ones you didn't expect to do so well are surpassing the more 'obvious' ones.

Of course, as people have already mentioned there are signs of a profitable niche so it's always a good start.
  • Go for any niche . Just pick one and go for it
