How to get a good coach?

Some of us might have paid for coaching. How does one get the right coach or mentor to help us reach our goals? Do share your experience with coaching whether good or bad.

    Actions speak louder than words.

I'll give you the approach that I recommend to everyone on Warrior Forum looking for a coach.

You want a coach with a specialism in a certain subject. We can't all be experts in everything.

What I suggest you do is begin researching any potential coach on Warrior Forum by clicking on their name and then clicking where it states, "Find More Posts by (name)" and "Find All Threads by (name)." You will get a great overview of this person. Do they seem intelligent, literate, knowledgeable, well-respected, erudite on the subject you have in mind? Furthermore, do others mention their name in threads related to your subject? In short: do they appear to be a reliable authority or do they seem to be unprofessional, always "trolling or arguing," illiterate, unpleasant, unfriendly; in short, not a person with whom you would feel comfortable conducting business?

Continuing further, investigate their signature file or associated website. Use a judicious eye. Does the website appear professional or does it look low-end? Do the testimonials convince you of their expertise? Is the writing literate? The content high-end? Does the website convince you further of their specialism and expertise in your subject of interest?

Finish with a polite private message. The best coaches on Warrior Forum actually tend not to advertise their service. Reason being: they don't have to advertise and rarely do they want to take on too many students, diluting the time they can devote to their current list of students. Furnish a polite message, anyway. Explain to them your interest in coaching, your dedication to learn, and be pointed and ask if they offer coaching.

A reputable coach will then respond in a professional manner and, should they be available, provide you with references and further information without any obligation to purchase anything.

    I hope that helps you.

Having a good coach is definitely worth it. Just make sure they know their stuff and you will be on the fast track to success as long as you put the work in.

      A coach is a god damn shortcut . That's it .

If you want to fast track your success then get an awesome mentor because that will defiantely be worth it...

When we think about dancing for example, we would not even think about not having a teacher to show how to dance ... It would just take too long lol.

And for picking it , just pick someone that resonates with you, also that you trust and of course that has the knowledge or results that you want .

With that being said, when you get a coach don't think about how much you are paying but think about ROI(return on investment) and that's how you make real money.

      Good Luck

Hey all you need to do is look at Signatures in Warrior Forum. There plenty of good ones. They have to be good right ?
After all they are in Warrior Forum

Seriously though, I do not think you necessarily need Coaching. There is nothing wrong with modeling after someone.

But as far as a formal ,paid Coach ? It is just not necessary.

        Really.

I would abstain from it. at least if you are a Newbie. ( Here is a good reason that explains this) http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...education.html

Exhaust ALL the free information here that there is.

Also, there are actually some decent Warrior Plus programs that are soooo cheap that have amazing value.

Just go there and do a search. Paul Nicholls, Matt Bacak are a few good ones that have solid products

Hey, Robert. I just want to thank you for linking my post. It's always nice when people appear to like what I have to say.

And, of course, I totally agree with you.

I won't rehash all that I've said on the subject before, but I will just summarize my agreement with this: Coaches are a super way to invest in your business, but first you should make use of freely available knowledge. Imagine, for instance, forking out for a coach on video marketing, when you later decide that you actually don't like the subject!

          Anyway - cheers!

IMO, the best technique for finding a good coach is word of mouth referrals. That being said, I've never found a good coach, because none of my friends have either.

You should also find someone that share your experience. I mean if you have a family, 2 kids and 5 hour per week to work on your projects and money to invest, you should not choose a 20 y old single living with his parents probably. And also if you are the 20, probably you cannot rely on the opposite.

Not that it cannot be the right choice but you should verify if he understand your life and mindset first.

I try to explain it better:

Probably the 20 y old works on projects with a fearless mindset and all the time he want, and you cannot follow advices based on it because you don't have time but you have a lot to lose.

Also if you are a 20 y old probably you have energy and a stable situation behind you, so you can work many hours but not spend lot money. So rely on someone that is used to invest money is not the best deal for you.

    HINT HINT.....

.....A lot of coaches offer some kind of 1 HOUR FREE strategy sessions to
get a CLEAR picture of where you're at right now with your business and to
see whether you're a good fit for their programs etc.

I'm sure if you look closely here at the W.F. you can join some lists to
see if these kinds of slots are available to you.

      Essential.

I actually enjoy the challenge of coaching absolute beginners. It is essential, though, to get a good feel for their strengths and weaknesses and experience. Only rarely do I find a candidate who is absolutely unsuitable for a coaching program. Predominantly, I use an assessment phase to learn which areas will need special concentration.

      Example: Domain Flipping.

A portion of my advanced coaching program for domain flipping deals with an area that total newcomers may find complex. It is an essential area, though, since it actually extends the method beyond anything I know of other professional domainers doing. So before getting started, I absolutely must have a chit-chat, and determine if the candidate is up to the task. So far, it has always been manageable, even where I've literally logged on and done the work for them so they can do it next time, but it is an area to be discussed beforehand and any reputable coach will use the same system of assessment.

One good tip I can give:

If you have the strategy session with your potential coach make it quite clear what you understand by coaching and that you are both on the same line.

If you need constant feedback and hand-holding for every small step (no offense meant, seriously) you should say so.

If you expect him tzo be available each week for a 15-30min Skype session - tell him so.

If you are just starting out and the coach talks about automating your sales funnel with InfusionSoft - get rid of that person.

I agree with some of the comments above - the coach should be or have been in your position before (also with your social life and potential 9-5 job in parallel).

        Best

A good way to get a coach is to look at their background and have they done work in the field in which you need help.

Most coaches will offer a 15 to 30 min free discovery session. ALWAYS use this session to ensure that you can trust this person and get an understanding of their capabilities.

I have coached over 400 people till date and I use the discover session to figure out if I can add value to their business and most importantly do I want to work with them.

It is very important that the coach and you need to click and have a good rapport so that both of you enjoy the sessions, that's the best way to get the most out of the coaching.

    Hope this helps!

I've paid for several coaching / mentoring programs in the past and for the last 2 year I've stuck with 1 because I resonate with him the most. If you can resonate with someone rather than just finding someone who's offering, then you should go with that individual.

I also find it important to find someone who practices what he preaches. Are they constantly creating new content or changing old content that doesn't work, how open to their business are they?

They're obviously doing something right, so you need to apply what they're teaching you and stick to it. Learn as you progress but don't expect them to do everything for you.

wow: i should write a wso abotu this.
i had many coaches through the years.
    i tried some of these:
    ===========================
chris farrel membership (great buy too many videos)
niche profit classroom (great info but too many videos )
    jamie lewis (confusing, no direction)
amzon sites coaching (got banned from forum and stole money)
valcdesign (stole everyones money and got banned by forum) thank god for forum
    ===========================
here is my tips and i know some coaches will not like what i have to say.
becareful, they are bad people as well as good people on this forum.

1....always use credit card so you can dispute if coaching goes bad and you get your money back.

    2. never....never.....never.......never......never... ...........EVER............................PAY ALL MONEY UPFRONT. always insist to make payments for coaching. i had coaches that forgot who i was once they got paid.

    3. never sign for a coaching program that has 50 hours of video. you will get over whelmed and quit.

    4. sign up for coaching program where you get daily homework and your coach is keeping you accountable.

    5. always, let your coach know that you expect emails to be returned within 24 hours.
