The intrigue of online business
I have practically zero business experience. From just being interested and curious about the internet though, I would have to say that I love the idea that at any given moment or time, someone could potentially be viewing your product, service, blog post, etc. online. That almost feels like a luxury that most traditional businesses don't have the pleasure of experiencing.
Now that's not to say that there aren't any traditional, offline businesses that don't experience that because there are plenty of cities around the world that are basically up and running 24/7, but in my opinion I still believe online is a much more advantageous place. Also yeah there are those companies that have scaled so incredibly large to be a global brand, but that obviously didn't happen overnight.
Thinking into the future as well, I really don't see many obstacles preventing the landscape of online business from expanding greatly. As more of the world becomes interconnected and technologically advanced, so do the online business opportunities and potential customers/viewers. This is why I believe facebook, twitter, instagram, and all those other social media companies out there are projected to be worth so much. It's from the potential users that all those companies have found a way to sort of corral into the same group. If online business is all about traffic, then obviously facebook and twitter are winning that fight.
If I had to think of a negative influence that might hit the online business world, it would probably be censorship and governmental regulation. The internet is basically a never ending source of information and enlightenment and it's insane to think that there are people out there who are against making that a basic privilege to everyone (but that's a completely different discussion)
