It's hard work.

It's A LOT of trial and error.

You're going to make mistakes.

But hey, as Eric Thomas says - 'there is no progress without struggle'.

All of these things are just learning experiences that are going to get you closer to your goal.

So many people want that system - that is 'nice and easy' - that is going to take them from point A to point B in a straight line...

...but guess what?

Success doesn't work like that.

It's messy man! You're going to be up, down, backwards, forwards, left, right - it's even going to be foggy!

But what separates the successful people from the 99% of others that QUIT is persistence.

You gotta keep on persisting man - never stop, never quit, give it everything you've got.

Because at the end of the day - you've only got one shot at this thing called life - you may as well give it everything you've got.

    That's right!

It's not a business for people who have a tendency to give up easily.

Well the more you put in the more you receive eventually, that's a fact.

Well, perhaps, but then again why are so many IM products sold as "you do nothing (or almost no work), and money will explode your bank account"? There is quite a dissonance between how - at least some if not most - IM products are marketed and cold hard "reality".

It doesn't have to be a struggle, actually. People make it that when they insist on working business models that no longer work or were questionable in the first place. They look for easy peasy thinking the claims of big money will be theirs. Then they find out that stuff doesn't work.

And what to many do? They go right back to some boneheaded "system" that still doesn't have a chance and never did. That's the struggle. Promoting a legitimate business isn't hard, it's fun.

Exactly! You can cut out a lot of the trial and error by modelling someone who was already successful in that area.

    Nice post.

Every "failure" is another learning experience that will take you closer to your goal(s). As they say in NLP: "There's no such thing as failure, only feedback." So use that feedback and keep persisting. (Because the only way you won't succeed is if you stop taking action.)

    Onwards and upwards.

      Thanks Jon!

And I love studying NLP - it's so interesting. When an obstacle comes up - it's all about how you reframe it in your own mind, that determines the action you take.

Is this a failure or is this a learning experience?

Exactly. It all comes down to having the ability to follow someone's proven system to the letter. Once you veer off course... you're a statistic.

      • Right on Zak!

They also will not tell you that having a list in the 6 digit numbers is like success seasoning sprinkled on every project.

They do not tell you that you will be copied with no credit.

They do not tell you not to ask for any pay it forward crap about getting someones product and paying them later from the profits.

They do not tell you that the free product you only pay shipping and handling for is well into profits before you ever get your hands on it.

I love this world. You mind never collects dust. Never.

If you are not figuring out a success you are figuring out how not to be a victim.

This post couldn't have any more truth.

I am a beginner and just started my website / blog three months ago. It's a lot of work without rewards so far. I get a few organic visitors every day but I still have to be patient and put in energy to get more visitors.

I also had a few moments where I started doubting my method or that you can make lot's of money on the internet. This just happens because people naturally want to get results fast.

I know what I am doing and I know that I have to be patient and persistant. The rewards will come in a year or maybe two years from now. I won't quit till I succeed.

Exactly - you've got to be persistent!

At the same time - that doesn't mean you can't start making money now. It doesn't have to be 1 or 2 years down the line before you start making money.

Follow a system that has produced results for someone else and take massive action with it, knowing with full certainty that if someone else can product those type of results - I can too.

Hard work alone won't cut it. There are people with two jobs who are not getting ahead in life.

You also need a good approach. A good methodology of what you need to do.

And how do you find that?

Through hard work. Not so much trial and error but having an iteration based process.

You try approach #1. It fails. You learn what to do and what not to do.

You try approach #2. It fails but you also get some results. You are on the same path. You adjust your course.

You try approach #3. It works. You take everything you've learned and you aim to optimize it.

That's about it. Life. In personal and business matter. Every failure carries a lesson. Every victory carries a lesson. Therefore, the number trait I consider valuable is curiosity. Curiosity to learn from your mistakes and see if it works next time.

Exactly - you've got to be constantly correcting course and learning from your mistakes.

Success isn't a straight line, but as long as you learn from all of your mistakes along the way and take action with what you learn (course correct) - you'll reach the destination eventually.

    Hey Zak,
For the most part I really agree with you.

But after awhile of 'persisting' and not getting anywhere there are some people that do need to reevaluate to see if they are cut out for this. ( IM that is)

Like I have said in the past this is not necessarily for everyone

When I was first starting out - I would have completely disagreed with you.

But it's true, not everyone is cut out for this - not everyone is willing to put in the hours to learn something new, to make mistakes, to do ANYTHING they can to succeed.

Persistance is key, but your mindset is 99% of any business. If you come into the industry with a doubtful mindset and questioning if it will work, you already lost. If you come into it thinking it will be easily done with a lot of work, you are setting yourself up for success.

Interesting point. : ) Although the last attitude is definitely preferable, I don't think that people necessarily need to believe in themselves and their methods 100% providing that they take positive action.

A person may be afraid of skydiving and have thoughts about not landing safely on the ground however because of their courage (and taking a leap of faith, if you will) they accomplish their goal.

And, with Internet Marketing, you build confidence in yourself by taking action and seeing results from your efforts.

      So true man!

Mindset is key in business (and life in general) - people forget that fundamental principal and just want to jump straight in to a 'push button' system that's going to make them millions of dollars.

I'm so happy that there isn't anything like that and that there never will be - because this business forces you to grow as a person. I love it.

My biggest issue was staying focused and making sure I spent the time on the highest priority items and those that had the biggest impact on income.

It is so easy to get distracted by the newest shiny marketing object but once you have decided what is most important to your growth it makes it easier to just stick with the things that will lead you to the goal.

Exactly! Finding a mentor is so powerful - because it cuts out all of your guesswork.

You still have to work your ass off and take massive action - but it cuts out all of the uncertainty and mistakes that you might have originally made.

And uncertainty (especially in business) - is a KILLER.

      EXACTLY!

Once you get past that initial period at the start (the hardest part) - you begin to build momentum.

It's almost like a snowball rolling down a mountain - you've just got to push it off and once it gets rolling - it just gets bigger and bigger and bigger.

Focus is key in business. Cultivating the ability to focus even when there are distractions around you - is so important.

Because you can't necessarily control anything external but what you can control is yourself - your focus.

And I agree - cultivating a routine or habit around your goals is sooooooo important!

Great toughs Zak. Dreams don't work unless you do. Dream big and never quit.
Don’t label you as failure…mistakes are just learning experiences!

It’s a great new opportunity if you get fired, but only if you see it as a learning experience, only if you have this belief. If you decide I failed, I lost job, you just get sad and depressed and weak. There is no failure, there’s only learning.

I get fired from my job, because I resist my boss…. I was black sheep. People around me say what are you doing… be quiet and listen to him….

Well you have only two choices… I take the hard one….
What have I learned from this experience?

I learned a lot of great things. I learned things about

myself. I realized that, for me, freedom were more important than job
I learned that I like to be independent and make my own choices.
I learned a lot of lessons from that experience. I don’t think it was a failure I think it

was a huge success, in fact. It was a great learning experience.

It’s a great new opportunity if you get fired, but only if you see it as a learning experience, only if you have this belief. If you decide I failed, I lost job, you just get sad and depressed and weak. There is no failure, there’s only learning.

Any time you have a similar situation ask the same question, “What have I learned?

What can I learn? What can I learn from this?” No failure.

The same thing you can apply to your business. You will never fail, you’ll just learn. You’ll learn which methods are best and which methods don’t work. You’ll never fail.

Don't label you as failure...mistakes are just learning experiences!

I get fired from my job, because I resist my boss.... I was black sheep. People around me say what are you doing... be quiet and listen to him....

Well you have only two choices... I take the hard one....
What have I learned from this experience?

I learned a lot of great things. I learned things about

myself. I realized that, for me, freedom were more important than job
I learned that I like to be independent and make my own choices.

I agree with you. To explain the 99% you refer to is best explained by human nature. Like electricity...human nature loves the path of least resistance....which this is not..even with guidance and the perfect system.

So true Terrance - no matter what system you've got - you HAVE to work at it, to make IT work.

Just take all out MASSIVE ACTION to what you want every day, do it whether you feel like it or not, ignore the haters and focus on what you want.

Everything is a learning experience. It's all about how you perceive it in your mind.

      Ha! So true Will.

Failure your way to success - don't resist it, embrace it.

Let go of the 'ideals' you hold in your mind of how you want it to be, and fail your way to success!

Great! Everyone who comes into this business needs to copy this and put it on their wall and read it ever day. It's not easy and its very hard to keep up with the all of the emails. I just quit Yahoo email after 15 years and left with over 100,000 unread. You are right about being messy and sometimes depressing not to be able get to that point of taking it easy. Never quit and keep going even after life slams you to the ground numerous times and failures are around every corner.

What I am struggling with is the trail and error part, you need patience in this game but if you keep going you will eventually find what works. That is where I stand right now I am trying out many different projects I know my time and hard work will pay off in the end.

      Thanks Ronald!

      NEVER QUIT, NEVER GIVE UP.

Every 'failure' is just a learning experience, another lesson.

It's all about how you perceive it in your own mind. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, just YOU.

      Exactly bro!

Just keep on taking massive action - and you will get there.

It's all about constantly correcting course every single day. Make mistakes, learn from them and continue to push forward towards what you want.

I only recently realized that JV meant joint venture. My initial assumption is that it meant junior varsity...

If I could get some advice on how to find the right JV's that would be interested in promoting this type of product/Service. I'd be most grateful thank you very much this is a very interesting form I'm learning a lot.

      Thank you, George
Wow - awesome George. Welcome to the forum :-)

And as for the JV's - you're best getting involved in Facebook groups.

Just remember, they're real people like you and I - build a relationship with them, see what you can do for them in their business FIRST, actually get to know them.

That's why starting out is the hardest part.
I've failed a lot of times but I am grateful I was able to overcome all of it and learn from it.

Starting out is always the hardest - because you're stepping outside of your comfort zone...

...immediately you're brain will try to put the 'handbrake' on - you need to push past that, you need to let go of that little voice in your head that tells you to stop - because the more action you take towards what you want, the smaller that voice will become.

Action is the KEY. Programming ourselves on focusing and keep working would allow us to emphasize towards the goal. 'Give Up' is a choice. So does 'Being Up'. Just do it!

Anyway, thanks Zak for raising this topic! Gratefully reading everyone's comments! It also hits and reminds me of what I am doing and what for.

Exactly - you don't have to go through all of the mistakes someone made to get where they are.

Just learn from their mistakes NOW and model after what they're doing in their business.

Come on guys! it's not a war lol But in the main point you are right - never give up - that words must be you life style lol
And to be serious, I would say, that your mistakes and errors and losing money - is the path of your education (that is always on paid base), just try to learn the right lesson and apply it in your further IM activity and you'll become a Champion.
