I personally like and admire Eben Pagan. He was one of the first IMers and he is still the best. Plus, he made his first money NOT in the biz op niche but in the dating one.

His products are all high ticket though. He's not into writing eBooks but rather creating 20 - 30 - 40 hour video courses that start at $997.

He products are also called "The MBAs of Internet Marketing".

I am without the doubt one of the best marketer

By the way, I think everyone is confused with "Internet Marketing" and "Online Businesses"

Most of the names mention on this thread are people who are successful in building online business and not really "Marketing".

Greg Davis, Gauher Chaudhry, Chad Hamzeh, Tuan Vy, Don Wilson and a ton more are considered the "Top Internet Marketers".

I'm assuming we're talking about direct response marketing by the way.

People tend to associate the term "internet marketer" with a person who TEACHES Internet marketing.

MOST (but not all) the replies here are evidence of this fact as they call the names of various individuals who TEACH Internet marketing.

While true that the coaches named in this thread ARE great internet marketers..... it's myopic to assume that ALL internet marketers are those who TEACH the subject.

These people are a few who ARE great internet marketers:

Internet Marketing is an ambiguous term. The educators listed above, several of which I respect, are primarily Information Marketers - they sell courses for their specialties. When I think IMer, it's Information Marketer because marketing, itself, is a required process for all businesses on and off the web.

Too often it seems, n00bs to starting online businesses interpret the process to make money as selling digital goods (video, PDFs, audio, memberships) to teach others. Often, the result is new business owners trying to sell information on how to be successful before they experience success for themselves
Who are the Top Internet Marketers?
which makes the OP question something everyone should ask

Learning who knows what they are doing, then studying the processes they follow, is necessary - even for those with successful businesses . Many online companies do not divulge what works for them, so finding working sites and deconstructing their methods is valuable education that isn't taught..

Internet Marketing on the web IMO is just sales and marketing from the real world as applied to online product and service sales. Not just internet, but one of the top marketers of all time is Gary Halbert - this site is a gold mine of education.

Depends what you are looking for, there are people who will sell you information that the best way to market online is to create a backwards sales letter and to prove how successful there method is they rely on other marketers with big lists to promote their 'strategy' whilst paying other people an affiliate fee.

Then there are people who marketing real world products on the internet, look at Gary Vaynerchuk's wine library.

  • Internet marketing is a very broad term.

I can list 10 amazing guys who are strictly into Internet marketing, and I can name a ton other great guys who strictly teach offline marketing but are also Internet marketers.

There are countless niches on the MMO topic, so it's a wide topic for sure. But the guys already mentioned on this thread are ultimately some of the best marketers out there.

What you think about the owners of:

      - Best Buy
      - Nextag

      Or even TopTenReviews.

All those IM guru's are nothing compared to them, those are the true internet marketers.

I have zero love for people who make money from selling idea's how to make money, that whole niche/concept is as lame as it can be. If people knew how to make millions with their methods they would be doing just that instead of selling it.

I do have to honestly admit the same applies a bit too my niche, SEO, if I was so great why would I rank others and not bank big time myself.

My excuse? I started with zero bucks in the pocket. Selling SEO allowed me to make good money by making others good money, now I do have the funds to work on my own projects and while business is dwindling I'm not a single bit sad about it as I see great times ahead of me with more fortune then i could ever dream of

I know there are some that use a male pseudonym but I won't expose them.

I know others that choose to stay behind the scenes and brand their company or website instead of their name. Some multi-millionaires don't have a desire for the whole world to know who they are.

      1. Ali Brown
      2. Marie Forleo
      3. Sheri (Sheree) Keys
      4. Lisa Sasevich
      5. Fabienne Fredrickson
      6. Nathalie Lussier
      7. Michelle Pescosolido
      8. Sandi Kraskowski
      9. Mari Smith
      10. Mara Glazer
      11. Carrie Wilkerson
      12. Laura Betterly
      13. Gina DeVee
      14. Callan Rush

I follow ALL of these ladies, although some more than others. Sheri Keys is my business coach. Most teach online marketing in some capacity, but a few (like Fabienne Fredrickson) teach general marketing (i.e. client attraction) or speaking (Lisa Sasevich and Callan Rush), not just online marketing. But they use online marketing extensively to market their businesses -- and teach offline and online marketing to their peeps.

Sandi Krakowski and Mari Smith specialize in social media.

Michelle Pescosolido started as an MLMer, became hugely successful using online marketing to grow her MLM biz, dumped MLM and went into direct sales, using online marketing to become successful. So she also teaches how to use online marketing (specifically Facebook) to market your business.

      Hope that helps!

Gary Vaynerchuk, Rich Schefren and Tim Ferris, those people are con artists also?

I see you are anti-guru (me too) but, don't put all of them into one basket. Sure, it's true that many BIG guys won't share their details publicly and they are known only in "circles". However, that doesn't mean everyone who want to sell his knowledge and expertise is con artist.

Anyway, if I was about to type at least one name of a serious marketer I would have to think a lot... Maybe that would be Al Ries? (check out the list of companies he have worked for) Or maybe Daniel Meyer if we talk about niche marketing? If we talk about IM in general then I would say that one name worth mentioning is Cory Rudl (check out his old marketing course - basics). Or if we talk about PPC it could be Perry Marshall...

There is no right answer to that question. All depends on what one person want to do, be it SEO, PPC, offline marketing for small business etc. For sure one answer that would be correct is this. If someone wants to make money (online or not, doesn't matter), he or she should stay away from people who are promising wealth, houses, full of $ bank accounts etc.
