Help I want to transfer a domain from one server to another

I am currently using two hosting servers Midphase and Hostgator. I really have no need right now to be using both. I would like to transfer my domain and blog from Hostgator to Midphase.
I think that all I have to do is repoint my DNS for my domain at Godaddy to Midphase. Take my blog folder from Hostgator and transfer it once my domain has been transfered.
Could someone tell me if this is the right procedure.

Thanks in advance

This is the best fourm ever!

Just change your name servers in your GoDaddy control panel and point them to Midphase.
To transfer your blog from one server to another, install your blog first, then export/import your data

there might be a lag. I transferred a few domains from 1and1 to hostgator, and they work fine from home but at work I am still getting the 1and1 hosting account. Next phase for me is transferring the domains themselves to namecheap where I keep my other domains....

I'd suggest you backup (download files + export database) from the old server at hostgator BEFORE you change the DNS data.
After the change you might not be able to access it.
