Hello!

Today I check my website speed via Google Speed Insight and I got 90/100 score via Desktop

And 75/100 score via Mobile

My site is based on Wordpress platform and I already installed WP Smush.it & W3 Total Cache plugin

And my hosting is Bluehost

Please help me how to fix these problems to increase my speed

Thanks

  • Overall with above rating I can say that your website speed is good. But, still there is scope left to increase the speed of the website a bit more. You can explore the option above shown "should fix" and see what are feasible options available to increase the website speed.

90/100 is quite a good grade, but as you say yourself, there is still room for improvement.
I found a quick guide in a post on http://adwordsexplained.com/all-about-website-speed/ which covers the easy things to do besides installing caching plugins.
Good luck and let us know if you could increase your score.

I'm not claiming that having a fast loading website isn't important -- but at a certain point you have to say, "Good enough." My guess is that you'd be better off developing your site (adding new features, content, etc.) or building traffic to your site than trying to score 100% on some arbitrary tool.

At the very least I'd ask myself these questions before spending any significant time tweaking my website trying to save a few milliseconds:
Have your visitors complained about your site loading time? Do you even have mechanisms in place to solicit this sort of feedback from your users? Is your speed likely hurting your search engine rankings and if so how much and does it really matter? (If you're like me other traffic methods are much more important than search engines). Is this really the best use of your time right now or are there other things you could be doing for your business that would be more catalytic?

Everyone wants good grades, but this is business not school. And in business some grades (like total profit) matter a lot more than others (like your website speed score).

You'll have to have some ecperience with coding if you want to solve most of the problems. It mostly involves removing the space in between the code (css, html etc..), so you better ask someone with experience to do this.

For the images you should reduce their size so they load faster. If you use wordpress then the smush.it plugin will help you do that very easily: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/

I think your speed is fine now, these small things might help a little though.

        Steve,
I only found analyzers and I think one is enough to tell you if your site loads fast or not.
There were NO tools to help solving the speed (or slowness) problems.

      Jens,
IMHO everyone who is able to upload a file using FTP should be safe doing these simple modifications.
There is no magic behind this and for the minifications there are onlinetools you can employ using the normal copy paste functions.

Smushit is a good tool but shouldn't be switched on all the time.
I use it when optimizing an existing site. In the media menu in WP you find an entry 'Bulk Smush.it' which helps optimizing your existing image files.
Anyway, there are limitations as the webservice behind the plugin cannot deal with images bigger than 1 MB. I often see image files on the web that are a lot biger than 1 MB.
My approach is to optimize the image in Photoshop or a similar program. Reduce the size to what you really need and then save for use on the web. Compression (lowering the quality) doesn't have such a big effect on visible quality than everyone expects, but the savings in filesize are big.

Did you do what it says when you click those links that say "Show how to fix". I don't know what it is going to say but that seems like a good place to start.

  • If you have the money, a CDN will usually increase your page speed loading time.

    Thanks everyone for answering me

I do install WP Smush.it and run through all images on my website. I also click on how to fix and I don't know how to do as they said. Some problems might be from the server. I thought W3 Total Cache might do it but I enable all feature (except for CDN) but it's still not increased

Use WP Minify Plugin to minify your css and js file, that was the thing shows by google speed insight, and enable gzip compression, if you aren't enable so far.
