Clickbank Vendor Question

Hey WF,

I'm getting ready to launch a product on Clickbank in the weight loss niche.

I just did the test purchase that they require you to do. And while I was going through that, I was wondering how do I gather my customers' email addresses from Clickbank?

I thought of putting on my thank you page an opt-in box so I can collect the emails that way and then send them the download link via email, but Clickbank didn't seem too happy with that idea.

So does anyone have any insight on how to build your list through CB? Is there a way to link up your autoresponder that I'm just missing? It's my first product so I have no idea..

Thank you!

Ok so you want to grab the email, then send them to the product ?

I must ask you first if you intend on getting an affiliate program up for this ?

      Sort of yes.
I just want it to be where after someone buys my product, I get their email on my list.
I'm not sure how CB works but as of now I haven't seen any place to set up an autoresponder for this.

And yes I will have an affiliate program for this. I need the affiliates to drive traffic to my sales page!

Customers' emails will be stored automatically and you will be able to access them/export the list from your CB account. You can also use the Clickbank API and/or Clickbank IPN to do more advanced things but they require some programming. One more thing, some autoresponders come with an integration for clickbank.

    They're right not to be.

You shouldn't let people pay for something and then tell them that they need to opt in, as well as paying, before downloading it: that would be changing the terms of the contract of sale after receiving payment.

(PayPal has been known to close down people's accounts for doing this. It's happened to two people I know. I appreciate that the vendor is ClickBank, not yourself, technically, but this might in part explain why they don't like it, either?)

    Your options are ...

Either (i) do this in an automated way through an interface with your autoresponder software (companies like Aweber and GetResponse offer this facility, and provide explanations of "how it works"), or ...

(ii) Make it very clear to people before they pay that they're going to have to provide an email address in order to access the product (i.e. so that it's part of the terms of sale, and you're not changing them after payment). But even this may cause the occasional problem, and it's cumbersome and sub-optimal, anyway.

You can ask people to opt in voluntarily "for product updates", of course, but that's not the same as making product-access conditional on their complying.

I have to agree that there is nothing more annoying then signing up and then having to add your email - if I do purchase a CB product I quickly unsubscribe. Lots of sellers actually add the optin on the main sales page. Take a look at your competitors and use the same methods they use.

        Hi All,

Our platform provides the email address of the consumer to the product vendor immediately after the sale is completed. This is part of our standard functionality. This email address is available via:
        1. The sale notification email that we send to the product vendor
        2. The transaction report screen (see the mail icon on the far left)
        3. Instant Notifications - Field is part of the customer object
        4. APIs - included as part of several API calls

Depending on your particular use of our platform, you can use any of those methods to gather the customer's email address after the purchase has completed. The hesitancy you may have seen regarding the opt-in post purchase and pre-download is because we require digital products to be accessible immediately after the purchase is completed. Gathering the email address, which is not needed since our platform gives that to you, interrupts that experience for the consumer.

        I hope this helps.

    Use getresponse.
It links up well with instant notification function of CB.
The emails of buyers will be automatically added to your list.
You can search online on how to set it up.
Takes just a couple of minutes.

    Yes, for sure there is.
The thanks page, you can put a download link, firstly direct to a optin form, then after collecting the emails, then go to the direct download link again.

    this works well.

I think the best option is to use Aweber or GetResponse and follow their instructions on how to set it up to capture new customer e-mails through Click Bank.
