Guest Posting Author Bio Photo Doubt

Hi,

I just started guest posting. One of my article got approved but they're asking me to submit my face photo.

Actually I wanna be anonymous in online business. Could you please tell me what Author Bio photo should I give them?

Please suggest me,

Thanks

So do I - I use pen-names for all my niche sites.

If you use photos of other people, it can get "legally complicated" very quickly indeed, because of widespread limitations in the precise usage rights for them.

So for photos, I have a range of cartoons, drawings and even silhouette-style photos, all made from original photos of myself (mostly by graphic artists on Fiverr - so very, very little money spent on this!). These serve the purpose nicely for me: they are pictures of me, but I'm not actually recognizable in them.

      Hi Alexa,

Q1 ) Does everyone accept cartoon photos? Does cartoon should definitely belong to our face? or can i just google and keep some cartoon photo like this: http://images.clipartpanda.com/face-...-ncEyG7RcA.gif ??

( assume above photo is not copyrighted )

Q2) One more thing: Is that really much profitable doing regularly guest posting?

I don't know, but I don't remember ever having one "declined".

Do you mean "our face rather than our whole body" or "our face rather than someone else's face"? As long as it's a picture of you, even if you're not "recognisable" in it, I don't see the problem.

Why would I assume it's not copyright? I always assume every photo on the web is copyright, unless I have some very convincing reason to believe that it isn't, or that the copyright has been waived (and even then, I check very carefully the precise purposes for which it's been waived).

It has been, for me, in quite a wide range of niches; yes.

"Guest posting" is just a specific form of "article marketing", really.

It can be a source of very highly targeted, very responsive traffic. It's among the best-quality traffic I've ever had.

Another option to consider is to use photo editing software similar to Photoshop to alter your own portrait into an unrecognizeable headshot. For publications that do require an author's "real" photo, this was the ideal solution for me in providing authenticity and branding within a few dozen marketing personas in as many different niches.

Then in this case, what do I do? ( since I wanna be anonymous in online, I dont wanna give my original photo )

Yes I would recommend altering a real photo of yourself. I have "cartoonized" a couple of my profile photos for this purpose. It's a real picture of me, but it is altered just enough that it doesn't look exactly like me.

I've also used a partial head shot, which shows just the top part of my face and eyes. That way you can see me, but not all of me, and it somewhat hides my real identity, even though it is really me.

If you are using a pen name you can use a graphic that symbolizes you (that's what I do). If you need a face simply take a head shot of yourself, convert it into a pencil sketch and play around with the adjustments a bit until you don't recognize yourself as you.

Assuming you will be monetizing traffic from guest posting, it will be extremely difficult to market successfully in anonymity. Readers almost always want to see an author's name and face associated with articles - especially if your intent is to convert readers into buyers of your products.

As I mentioned earlier, you can alter a digital portrait of yourself using just about any photo editing software. Personally, I never considered cartoons, drawings or silhouettes, but changing facial features (and even gender) along with a catchy or eponymous pen name can certainly provide a high level of privacy while endearing your readers with a sense of authenticity and a warm personal touch.

I still haven't given any publications a picture of myself (even though I have considered what Alexa has said - I just haven't gotten around to it). Normally I just say I don't feel comfortable displaying my appearance all over the internet, and it generally works (once or twice it hasn't, however).

If that doesn't work, then definitely do what Alexa recommended (or just do it to begin with, if you want).

(I am exceptionally camera-shy, if you hadn't noticed).

If it's ok to ask, may I know where you're submitting guest posts? I'm looking to find high traffic sites to write and submit guest posts to.

    Thanks!

      Hi Michael,

Where someone else is submitting guest posts is only going to be helpful to you if it's someone who's in exactly the same niche as you, isn't it?

You don't just need "high traffic sites". You need sites that have the already-targeted traffic you want to attract to your site. It's all about targeting.

Nobody can possibly advise you about which are the best sites in your niche, without being in your niche.

This post explains how to find those sites, in your own niche (yes, it's about article marketing, but that's because "guest posting"/"guest blogging" are article marketing ): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6575732
